Unbelievable IMechE Muppetry
Discussion
A couple of weeks ago one piece confidently claimed energy could be 'created'. I wish they'd told us before. The journalism is shocking but worse is the absolute lack of decent enquiry and technical explanation of the stories they publish.

"Air is released via pressure turbines linked to a generator before the energy created is sent to the grid. "

Some managers look down on none members and interviewers sometimes ask about it (see below)
Why do some people prefer IMechE members?
Do they honestly think that it makes you any better? You'd hope not.
Or is it the fact that elsewhere in the World NOT being a member of an equivalent organisation is taken very seriously. When foreign customers take an interest in their UK suppliers they are often genuinely shocked to discover that not all staff are chartered. This then has to be explained away at a high level as, in some countries, not being in an IMechE type organisation is regarded as very poor form.
So there you have the real reason.

There's a difference between being Chartered and being a Member of the IMechE. As far as I am aware you can maintain your chartered status by paying the Engineering Council your annual subs (~£20?). Membership of the IMechE means they do it for you and provide ALL those other services.

And I was wrong. Just checked the Eng Council and apparently they do not offer direct renewals. Damn and blast.
