I'm I missing something here?

Burford to me is a pretty little place but with the added 'bonus' of a horrendously busy main road cutting through it. It is nothing more than a tourist trap and whilst I'm sure it was once a very nice place to live is now no more than an over-priced, over-crowded commuter village with a massive amount of traffic passing through.

Perhaps due to the fact that I lived for 'free' in the area when based at Brize Norton I am looking at it somewhat cynically but I really cannot fathom why it would be voted as one of the top places in Europe to live.

No one EVER thinks about working/commuting/main roads when voting in these things. Everyone imagines living somewhere with unlimited income and no need to work.

I agree, it's bonkers. Burford looks pretty enough and has some nice pubs but it would be hell to live there - hordes of tourists buying overpriced antique crap and blocking up the main road. Commuting on the A40 just hellish.

Some much nicer Cotswold towns nearby, some with mainline train connections to Oxford and London.

This was originally posted in 'The Lounge' where I had hoped it would spark the usual debate on how the south of England is over-priced and crap I certainly don't see it as being worthy of the 'high brow' forum.

This is my first taste of the new PH and I really don't think I like it!
