It comes to something when the BBC are posting up "WTF" style video clips. Of course we've all seen this before, but I think the issue is becoming very much front and centre of the immigration debate in the UK mainstream.
IMHO, the camps should never have been allowed to establish and the expectation of swift and easy transit to a land of benefits and welfare should have been quashed a long time ago. We want immigrants, we need immigrants, but not arriving like this. It is anarchy, it is uncivilised and it is putting UK citizens and visitors in peril.

The whole scenario is incredibly dangerous. Effectively, we - us in Europe - have allowed a key, strategic transport hub of our continent to become bandit territory.
I'd take issue with "we - us in Europe" are to blame, the blame clearly lies with the French government. The fact that the French Govt continue to ignore the worsening situation in Calais is as unbelievable to us as it is to the French authorities in Calais, and the residents.

Well said, I agree 100%IMHO, the camps should never have been allowed to establish and the expectation of swift and easy transit to a land of benefits and welfare should have been quashed a long time ago. This is a French security issue plan and simple, As said in the interview with the deputy mayor of Calais, he even said the government are doing nothing. We're pretty much back to where it was with Sangatte except it seems they are a tad more ballsy in their approach these days.
Agreed - it's far worse now.The French government knows damned well what's going on and accept it - screw the citizens of Calais are inconsequential. The fact that they have had to close off all the stopping areas on the autoroutes near Calais because they'd be too dangerous to stop at says it all.
As someone said ^^^ up there - we want and need immigration, but I don't want one of these "jungle" crew letting in. They seem to think it's just ok to resort to violence and lawbreaking to get what you want; what happens when they get here and don't get what they want? Terrifying!
There was one on TV a few months ago - he wanted to come to the uk and go to university? No st, Sherlock - so do lots of people, and they're the ones who have to pay for it. Sorry - I've gone a bit Daily Heil.
