Appears to be multiple fatalities after an accident at j15 involving 2 lorries and a mini bus.

2 arrested charged with dangerous driving (I'm guessing the lorry drivers as if there are multiple deaths it's more likely to from the passengers in the mini bus).

M1 still shut after crash at 3.15 this morning.

Looks a right old mess.

Oof;

Eyewitness quoted in article said:
It's horrific. There is what looks like the remains of the back end of the minibus trapped beneath the FedEx trailer, totally wrecked. There's wreckage along the grass verge and the third lorry is just past the junction.

Thats horrific but it doesn't say anything about the drivers being charged, it's way too soon for them to be charged anyway.....

That telegraph link has more than the Beeb
Speculation mode The fedex the world on time truck looks like it's smashed into the back of the jacknifed logistics truck, which may have been avoiding the minibus

That's surely a fatality in that FedEx truck? frown
I always wonder when I see trucks drafting each other how they'd fare piling into the back of a solid trailer

Sounds horrific whatever has happened.

Beeb reporting one of the drivers arrested was over the drink drive limit.

Heard on R2 news a short while ago one is charged with drunk driving....

If true what a totally avoidable accident - now sadly 8 individuals have been killed due to his/her utter selfishness

You are jumping to possibly a wrong conclusion

yes, from the Daily Mirror....
A 31-year-old man from Worcestershire has been arrested on suspicion of one count of causing death by dangerous driving and one count of driving a motor vehicle with alcohol level above limit, a 53-year-old man from Stoke-on-Trent has been arrested on suspicion of one count of causing death by dangerous driving.

Both still in custody

Well when a BBC R2 station says arrested for drink driving not sure what wrong conclusion you can draw from that unless R2 are mistaken.

Perhaps the part where you stated it was totally avoidable and 8 deaths resulted from it.

We drove past it early this morning on the opposite M1 carriageway on the route north.

The minibus looked like a scrunched-up crisp packet.

The jackknifed truck was at a 45-degree angle and splayed across 3 lanes, by the off-ramp at J14.

Poor folks prolly enjoying the long weekend and it ends in tragedy.

Certainly the worst accident I've ever seen in my whole life. Absolutely brutal.
