Drug dealing is a low paid profession.
Discussion
These poor bds only made £30 or £40. So we can conclude that even drug dealers are suffering in this climate of austerity.
OR was their defence council LYING to the court ? Surely that is PCoJ ?
Still, according to the rag they each received MORE THAN two years ! Woo fking Hoo !

Why not? If the market is awash with drugs and there aren’t enough people using it then it’s quite possible that the margins at the bottom end are slim. The better margins are for those at the top importing and distributing.
Probably explains some of the stabbings to remove other drug dealers from the area and allow them to sell more.
These people are the drug equivalence of factory workers, not the CEO’s.

Depends on what stage of the chain, a street dealer that's limited to one location will probably make less than £5 per deal whereas higher up the chain especially where they are adding adulterants to the drugs they will be making a lot more.
There's a lot of money being made, compare at the start the wholesale cost per kilo in South America and then the street price per gram at the end of the chain.

There is a chapter in Freakonomics which explains this:

I was going to mention that very book. Reality is a low level street dealer will earn on average less than a full time employee at McDonalds, when you factor in loss of earnings due to arrest, prison time, being stabbed etc.https://freakonomics-review.weebly.com/why-do-drug...
In fact it is only the upper echelons of a criminal enterprise who make a decent wage in the long term. However short term week to week you make more money standing about handing over product x for cash than you do getting up at 5am to go to McDonalds mop the floor an flip the burgers. Its the ease of the role that I think attracts many a young person plus seeing someone in a nice car with a gold watch is likely to appeal more than someone with 2 stars on there badge and a 50% off employee discount card.
Also there is a chapter about working in the fast food industry and how risky it is to your health due to risk of robbery an attack late at night....much like being a dealer

My local drug dealer seems to be doing well if his stable of regularly changing cars from Land Rover, Overfinch and Aston Martin are anything to go by.
Have you reported him to the police? Sounds like an easy arrestThankyou4calling said:

I'm sorry but no one is making 40 quid off a grands worth of drugs no matter how far down the chain they are! Dealers in lying to the court shocker...
Nobody makes any money off a grand's worth of drugs until they've actually sold them, so all this might mean is that he'd not got round to offloading much of the stash before he was collared.hucumber said:

Of course drug dealers aren’t known for their probity but I suspect this is more the case that he was claiming £40 a day’s dealing as opposed to a £40 margin per £1k.Either way the numpties in question are never going to be Pablo Escobar .......
