Free Schools - What scares the teaching profession so much?
Discussion
Just that I noticed the Unions and teachers were a bit upset yesterday about them opening
So what is it that worries them so much? From what I've heard, the kids will have more time at school studying 9-5 which I am sure will suit parents who work much better than current schools that are open 0930-1500.
The Unions and teachers usually only moan when they feel under threat, so are they worried that the acadamies / free schools will make them look bad and increase the expectations of parents? Or is it something else?

School time tables are scheduled to suit the children best, not their parents. More time at school certainly is not automatically productive and for primary children is completely irresponsible and counter-productive. Do you honestly think a 5 year old has enough stamina and drive to be able to replicate the time an adult spends at work at their school? That's a ridiculous suggestion and like I said, shows how little the people involved in the free schools initiative understand children.
I coped ok at primary school and my days started at 0900 and finished at 1600 I think that claiming it's a struggle for children is mainly an excuse for the falling standards.Gassing Station | News, Politics & Economics | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
