I don't bother having emotions for people I dislike as it takes too much effort that could be spent on something pleasurable, but I'm willing to invest considerable resources towards hating Blair and his wife.

Perfect summation.

"an extraordinary confusion of public duty and private interest."
Was he or his wife ever interested in public duty ???
Not as far as I can tell.

Has any front bench politician in the last 20 years?
Tony Benn? Would he count?

Never agreed with his politics but I have plenty of respect for the man.

..But isn’t uber socialist Benn also an uber millionaire?
Had a peerage and gave it up to enter The Commons IIRC.

Being wealthy doesn't mean you can't stand up for the masses in my book. Purely entering politics for personal gain and then treating everyone with contempt is a completely different ball game.
