A woman goes into a lion enclosure and gets mauled by a perfectly normal lion

They can't work out what provoked this animal to do such an act

From all accounts the student would think it normal to go into a lion cage.

Due to overwhelming evidence of a dead body next to larry he was shot dead in his own cage for this ghastly act

It would seem evolution of improvements to humans is on the down slope and my guess is in 1000 years the common sense part of the brain will be extinct.

reading comprehension ability is also on a downhill trajectory, it seems
so now a doctor went in and checked vitals of the woman, returned and suggested that the lady was still alive so better call the shooters. All while the lion had her head being chewed.

reading between the lines (or lions) comprehension, we are all still good at :-)

or looking at updated youtube clips using terms "put down" and taken "care off"

You can't think of a single way in which it may be obvious that someone is still alive, short of a medical examination? Really?
sceanrio (a)
my guess is the lion shred the said woman to bits more or less instantly with the old claw paw to the face/neck trick, or failing that body swipes let alone teeth and ripping the meat out which they have evolved to do to survive.

After which time maybe a quick response by armed officers of say 10minutes, lets say the lion had a bit of a rest for a few minutes only to discover a faint pulse then decided to do the job off with some more claw/teeth action.

My "guess" is the immediate scene was that of a dead body with a lions face full of blood.

and in the true spirit is of what is "right" the lion was shot dead or put down.

scenario (b)
The lion had just had its claws trimmed so its paw punch of 2tonne per pad only knocked the woman out.

The response was like lightening and they were there within the minute, to discover the lion just going in for the kill licking its lips, as it had cornered the woman who was now awake.

it looked up as the swot team shot it dead.

Unfortunately the woman died of shock so it was all in vain.

The only thing good to come out of it at least it will serve as a deterant to other lions if they act in this manner in the future that is what will happen to them.

The only big cat kill I've watched from start to finish was a cheetah on a gazelle, and that was still kicking 45 minutes later. The lion probably wasn't in much of a hurry, was presumably adequately fed (what with being in a zoo) and either had a pop at her for play or for later.

You have seen a cat play with a mouse? A friend of mine had one that would drop the mouse into the bath so he didn't need to keep an eye on it.
the official interview at the end says:

they arrived and find one of the workers in the big cat enclosure
they despatch (shot) the lion
and the worker is found to be deceased.

so my money is on scenario (a)

They should have tranquilized it instead of just shooting it.
Shame really.
^^ this
as i thought it was state law that sedation (that is virtually instant) be kept on site with predatory big cat enclosures that would have been despatched far quicker than waiting for sherif roscoe to turn up...?

Another slow reader?

The lion was (inadequately enclosed) in a smaller enclosure while the intern was cleaning the larger enclosure. The lion managed to lift the gate between the two and attack the intern. No information so far released would support your description of her as a "stupid woman".
well, which ever way you look at it, some silly fooker was stupid - but not the shot lion as that managed to work out the game of using the lion handle.
