War with Russia
Discussion
I know there's another thread on the Ukraine crisis but now it's escalated to where it has it seems that the prospect of a European war deserves a thread of it's own.
So supposing the very worst happened and Russia invaded Ukraine wholesale, would and could the western powers intervene?
I'd assume Russia has vast conventional warfare capabilities compared with NATO excluding the US?
Can/would the US get involved? And is there a realistic possibility of it eventually turning nuclear?
Obviously like any sane person I hope none of the above happens and it can be resolved peacefully, but interested to hear the thoughts of others on how a military conflict might pan out.

There are 150 million people in people across 9 time zones in Russia, so saying things like they're all retarded or they're all well educated or they're all anything is completely pointless.
The consensus seems to be that any military confrontation with Russia is a total non-starter at this point.

Quite an interesting article. Obviously comes with it's own agenda, but the first and fifth points are especially interesting to me. From a Russian perspective the EU and NATO wasted little time between the collapse of the USSR and bringing the former eastern bloc countries into the fold, closing Russia in in the process.
Without hyperbole, you can see how Russia would view the EU as a kind of western USSR, and view NATO courting countries like Georgia and Ukraine with some trepidation.
