So anyone caught drinking on TFL transport from now on cannot be prosecuted?
That’s right, just got to apologise. It’s totally unacceptable. I rarely go to the cesspit that is our capital but even I know of this regulation.
Someone in her position, living there and actually being paid to help determine and implement our laws should be aware. But, of course she’s hardly aware of anything, is she?
Retired DCI:
“She should be the most upright citizen in London, not doing stupid things like this.”
This is Abbot we’re talking about; not going to happen.

£500 says if it was Farage NPE would be saying how great it was he was showing up how stupid the law was; what's wrong with a quiet, discrete drink on the way home; not harming anyone; political correctness gone mad I tell you etc.
You would lose your £500.vonuber said:

Diversion type post. Presumably to show how awfully racist we all are. This kind of slur posting is trotted out all the time and whilst in this case it's mild it's just as pathetic as other versionsBaby Shark doo doo doo doo said:
Perhaps making it illegal to be pissed out of your brains on public transport would be a more sensible rule? Seems a bit pathetic to outright ban any alcohol consumption.
I absolutely agree with this.KingNothing said:
I haven't been to London in 25 years but even I knew of that law, if the shadow home secretary can't be arsed to obey one of the easiest laws to obey then why should anyone else? Also, it has nothing to do with her race.
I knew about it as I heard about it some time ago and was surprised. It's obviously a Train operators decision. It is different on other operators thoughNow for the nitty gritty. I made the OP as it's relevant. If you have a senior politician breaking a law it's newsworthy. Simple as that. I didn't doubt for one minute that certain types would pop up and claim
"racist/ picking on her/ sexist etc etc etc "
And sure enough certain posters don't disappoint. So let's be nice and clear about this
If it was:
Boris Johnson
JRM
Mr Farage
Mr Cameron
Angela Raynor
Vince Cable
Ritchie Blackmore
Richard Attenborough
It would still be newsworthy. In the case of Ms Abbot it's a little bit more newsworthy because as the title says "Senior Politician" It is perfectly reasonable and acceptable to think that a "senior politician" would be aware of the ban and would comply
I won't speculate on other things regarding drinking by politicians or "senior politicians" but there are lots of comments if you look around that suggest some "high profile" politicians may well have issues with their drinking

The point being is he was not allowed to drink coke on public transport let alone alcohol...........however it was agreed by him and the driver that he was spotted taking another drink after already being told not to ....................had it been me aged 14 on the other hand
eta but we had the old buses that you could just jump on and off the back and swing around the pole at will.
We will be on one of those in a couple of weeks as it's the designated mode of transport from a church to the wedding receptioneta but we had the old buses that you could just jump on and off the back and swing around the pole at will.

I do she is a disgrace.
She is not fit to help run a country.
Makes me think she may be drunk when she appears on TV
Who knows but then again The thing with Charlie Kennedy was hidden to some degreeShe is not fit to help run a country.
Makes me think she may be drunk when she appears on TV
Marriages are another cracks me up all the happy married MP's all lovey dovey. It's a private matter of course but when they use it to project themselves as married stable types its a bit of a bks IMO
That was brought into light just slightly in the Notre Dame fire coverage.
But you needed to be aware of it to realise

Or Have you never been drunk before appearing on television
I think it's called striving for accuracy. I must say this being a coont on pistonheads and picking people up for their posts not reflecting what you want to hear yourself is all very new to me
and great fun I must do it more often

But my salient point is that you asked a poster who posted
"Makes me think she may be drunk when she appears on TV " The question "Have you never had a drink after work then?"
I stated that your question should have been "shouldn't your question be Have you never had a drink after work on a TFL train then ?
Or Have you never been drunk before appearing on television"
I did that as it addresses the post the poster you are replying to in the way your question should have been posed
Your question "Have you never had a drink after work then?" is off tangent and causes an unnecessary diversion. Of course people may enjoy a drink after work but that wasn't the point the poster was making.
You will have to excuse me as I need to clean the cage for when the parrot returns
happy easter
Slightly off topic but with all the people giving up pay to go and demonstrate in London
She should have walked to show solidarity with the protesters. It would have been one of the most glorious sites in history.
Diane walking through the crowds. The protestors stopping in their tracks mouths agap. Then the inevitable as they walk behind her. A tide of people moving as one

No matter if they’re high flying executives, politicians, or scaffolders, it makes me feel vaguely uncomfortable if they’re near me, and I’m glad when they either get off, or I reach my stop.
Are you for real? Are you scared to go to a pub? I get where he is coming from. I do go to pubs but it's a bit different being in a pub to being on a train with someone drinking. I've seen a lot of bad incidents on trains attributable to alchohol.
These have ranged from an older bloke actually putting his hand up a womans skirt (1980) to a full on scrap between some lads between Manchester and Bolton. That led to Police boarding the train and added an hour to my getting where I was going. Along the way I have seen girls screaming at each other after drinking too much. I have also seen a lot of good natured people enjoying a drink and whose behaviour has not affected anyone in any way.
It's perfectly reasonable for Frank to be guarded around people drinking on public transport

we get that your better than some other posters I get that your posts are very well structured deeply informative and they don't in any way belittle other posters.
It's just that if you could stretch yourself to not falling into the trap of quoting requoting posts it would be really helpful
Ditto if you could try to not press post twice
thanks

If she was white there wouldn't be 10 pages, on top of that what you guys are saying here just makes race hate casual and mainstream. Perhaps a conversation about race is what this country really needs
As someone else so eloquently put it:"Don't feed him.
Look at his posting history.
He posts something to provoke and then flounces."

Yeah, righto - How many threads does Boris Johnson get? Or JRM?
I'll just wait until this afternoon when she gets another new thread all to herself. But it's not covert racism, honest guv.

It wasn't covert racism. I posted it for the reasons I mentioned. I know its very difficult for some types to get past the idea that she is incompetent. It's because of people like you that many people no longer care being called racist because its becoming meaningless and trivial. People like you are the reason why the very far right gets attention
You just don't get it. You really are the major part of the problem.
