What the absolute fk? Sheer bloody vandalism, some ahole cut down the Sycamore Gap tree on Hadrian's Wall.

I walked that part of the wall just under a year ago. At one point we walked past a herd of cattle lying either side of the path - they were indifferent to our presence.

Having said that, there are no doubt idiots who will let dogs off leads, drop litter, leave gates open and generally fk things up for everybody else.
