Just got back from a client lunch. G20 protests came up in conversation. Told client that all my meetings with other clients on Wednesday and Thursday had been cancelled as a result. Client advised me that they were closing down the main office site, moving essential staff back to a DR site and the rest would be working from home.
So that got me thinking on my journey back to the suburbs. Will the City effectively be closed on Wednesday (and Docklands is affected Thursday I believe)?
So as the title says really, if you work in City or Docklands in London are you going to work as normal?
If as with some of my clients you have been told that not to attend work are you being paid still?

Do you think it will be affected on Friday? Most of the stuff is happening Wed and Thurs I think, but i'm getting picked up in Islington on the way to a weeks skiing in france. My family are coming down from Cambridge but im not sure if they should pick me up in London or I should get a train to somewhere near the M25. They're coming midday so if its going to be affected, that'll be the time.
I think (hope) things should have calmed down by Friday. I know Wednesday is in the City and believe Thursday's protests will be staged in the Docklands. Chessers said:

I'm in, and I will buy the first round of lunchtime beer at DD for those that are able to make it. If the weather is nice, suggest we meet at Exchange Square.
DD is a good shout and near enough bang opposite my office as well although I am heading down towards Bank later on in th eday for a few beers.Chessers said:
Ha Ha !
Well we should be safe in DD or Exchange Sq for a few lunchtime beers with the plod sat right on the doorstep.
I for one will be coming in suited up as have meetings in the day. Hopefully they will all be fast asleep when I get in anyway

Just found this on the City of London Police website
Also looks like the 'camp' starts tonight.
Well I'm in one the Bishopsgate targets but providing I can get out the front door then I will be there at midday on th edot.City Coppers said:
* Financial Fools demonstration is likely to focus on 3 locations - Bank of England, European Climate Exchange in Bishopsgate and Royal Bank of Scotland in Bishopsgate. The protest is being advertised as a G20 meltdown with four meeting places advertised as Moorgate, Liverpool Street, London Bridge and Cannon Street at 1100 converging on Bank Junction.
* There are plans for a 'climate camp' outside the European Climate Exchange between the evening of 31st March and 2nd April.
So it looks like not everyone will be heading down to Bank as there are two targets in Bishopsgate itself.* There are plans for a 'climate camp' outside the European Climate Exchange between the evening of 31st March and 2nd April.
Also looks like the 'camp' starts tonight.

We're coming in (The Wharf) but have been told to dress down. I'll don Jeans and Timberlands....Good sturdy boots them.
Yeah, that'll fool 'em Anyone in the City or the Wharf wearing jeans is either a crusty or a city worker. Somehow I think it's quite easy to tell.
Why would I want crusty, unwashed, dreadlocks all over my Boss suit and Sweeney shoes?
and so it begins, email from HR:
