surely it would have been cheaper for the government at worst to fund private treatment for his operation in the last 15 years than pay out undoubtadly more in benefit. at worst he could have waited on the nhs to get it done. might have had to wait 2 years? could have saved 13 years of benefit payment and think about all the tax revenue lost... whole thing needs a massive shake up.
i am going to restrain myself from passing any comment or judgement on the individual obviously, but i wish him well in his new life ahead.
