The Next Web is reporting that "All Internet porn “To be blocked” in the UK" by default to stop the poor children from seeing anything un-toward. In order to access sites someone deems as inappropriate (on any level), you're going to have to ask your ISP to remove the block:

Sounds very much like the UK Goverment are wanting to adopt the Australian filtering system (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_censorship_in_Australia) which blocks sites like anti-abortion (http://www.crikey.com.au/2009/01/23/so-conroys-internet-filter-wont-block-political-speech-eh/), racism etc.

I detest this idea. I detest it with a passion. Who determines what I, you or anyone else for that matter can think, look at or do? Who determines what my beliefs can be?

It sound funny and OTT to be thinking pessimistically, but I really fear that a filter to protect us from ourselves is not a good thing and will allow the people who control the lists endless possibilities for abuse!

If the article is true, we really need to start kicking up a fuss on this one before it is too late!
