Cashpoint Running Windows XP - Guess What Happened?!
Discussion
I never knew atm's were running a Windows OS!
YES, the bugger threw up a runtime error dialogue box just after I asked for my £30, then promptly rebooted to a Windows XP screen. So now no cash and no card.
Speaking to Santander it's a £25 charge to use the Visa facility of being given a unique code to access an atm to withdraw cash!
Is that correct given what happened, ie not my fault at all?

I really do not understand why the likes of ATMs run windoze, every installation carries a licence fee and it's utterly unreliable ste. Stick it on a reliable Linux kernel and save a lot of money and trouble.
Because commercial deal and probably requires fewer windows techs on the payroll than it would require Linux techs. The OS is not the least reliable part of any ATM network either. Gassing Station | Finance | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
