How much are you talking?

How long can you sit on the shares? Won't you need money for a house?

Buy a house, you can't live in shares.

Well I suppose if you bought enough of them you could paste them together into a sort of tent. But it would still not be as good to live in as a house.

Well, buying shares to make money is a gamble, if it was a dead cert everyone would be doing it.

Have you explored other avenues for a 60k investment?

Buying shares could be a very good investment (it could fund your carbon fibre addiction wink) as the share prices dropped so much, and they should start to rise now they've fixed the oil leak. On the other hand it could be a while until you see much of an increase..

Depends how long before you need to buy a house

And if the cap fails? straight back down 7%?

how about waiting until the relief wells are drilled and they are about to poor in the concrete to shut it for good if you want to be safe.

all I know is some one has bought all of Europe's Cocoa beans. Question if shares are a bargain why buy commodities?

The bears out there are saying things could get a lot worse yet.

So I'd buy Gold.

And if your juicy investment goes belly up, at least your family won't starve?

As said above it's a bit of a gamble especially when things are not exactly going to plan atm (low pressure) and if it fails then you're fked, in nice terms. I'd go for the house. And if you don't need it for long and the money is ok sitting rent it out?

Never put money into equity (other than your primary residence) that you can't afford to lose

BP may well got nuts from here. They certainly look value in a historical context. However.... they have an unknown liability on their balance sheet, and more importantly are a political football for Obama and his chums to kick around until they got bored. Be very careful.

I'm no fan of the UK residential market, but BP is a high risk game. You could win big, or lose the lot. Beware.

I just play this. It's a lot less risky than actually using real money tongue out
I've got 200k in BP shares and they're only going up. All I deal in is diamons oil and gold. Although branching into guns and booze could help biggrin
