Thanks for the replys.
Fair dues, I can see your points. The main thing is just becoming a chartered accountant, through which body is less important. For me I guess the syllabus will have to be the deciding factor if that's the case. I can see my self enjoying performance managment and probably tax, but auditing not as much.
Good shout on the CFA, I'll definitely look into doing something like that after I qualify as a CA.

Judging people on their personal financial situation (which you really know precious little about) - Maybe others judge on simple punctuation? Your caps lock appears to be broken for a start.
i'm not a secretary; i apologise for my lack of capitals. however my punctuation is fine i think.

For you, judging on tone & language, avoid CIMA IMHO.
Report back when you know the lie of the land.
FamilyDub, please elaborate on the tone and language comment, I'm sitting here scratching my head, lol.Report back when you know the lie of the land.
No offence or provocation intended, I'm just trying to eek out your motivation so can comment a bit better.

Good luck to anyone sitting CIMA exams this week. I'm sitting P1 on Wednesday and currently have man flu, which is not helping matters.
My partner is also sitting P1 this week! Good luck. She is also sitting F1 the day after!Pulse said:

I'm sticking with one paper at a time for the moment. I think two papers a sitting AND working would very quickly become too much. That said, I know people doing three at a time plus working full time. Whatever works for you I guess. Qualifying at all cost was never my motivation, so I'm taking it one at a time for now. I really should be doing some last minute revision shouldn't I hornet said:

She did E1 earlier in the year just to kick things off, but decided to try out 2 exams this time. The trouble with taking 2 exams at the same time is that they're on consecutive days, which gives you no time to refresh for the next exam.I suppose it's good practice for when you sit the final 3 exams in one go!
In hindsight, starting off with the easiest exam, and doing both harder exams together, was probably not the right choice!

I did E1 last November. Plan is to get through first level one at a time, so F1 this November. After that, might double up on E2 and P2 and leave F2 standalone. I suppose it's good practice for when you sit the final 3 exams in one go!

P2 is harder than F2, just look at the past results -- it's usually the lowest pass rate of all papers, inc the strats & T4.Edit to add: E2, which alot of it overlaps with E1 (and E3, incidentally) could be good to combine with F1.
I may be alone in saying P2 & F2 are a hard slog on their own.

I'm CIMA and never looked back until moving to Jersey..... ACA's are elitest buggers and run the show here.
Then again if you are in the right role look into this
http://www.icaew.com/en/join-us/members-of-other-b...
<<To join ICAEW via Pathways to Membership, you must meet certain eligibility criteria. Qualified members of ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA, MICPA, CPA Australia or AICPA with a minimum of five years' full membership and post-qualification experience in an accounting and/or business environment may apply.>>
NOt sure if I will bother - as I suspect not having worked for the big 4 I still won't get an interview

Well, exam sat and felt like it went ok. The point about question practice is very valid, as a lot came up that were basically just rewordings of previous questions I'd practiced. A lot of variance analysis and NPV stuff, which I think I'm comfortable with, so fingers crossed. Now comes that horrid wait! Not sure what I'll do with my evenings now. Well, until I start F1 tuition. Do I scare myself with some past papers and try and hit the ground running, or do I just chill out for a bit?
