Yep just do this.
I have done this on other accounts that require pay in amounts.
Although I think the new cash back is limited to £15 per month so hardly worth the effort.
I don't spend 1500 a month just my fuel 300 ish and food 200 ish and bits and bobs. So £15 max is still fine for me.

I’ve got a Clarity card and I’ve never had cashback - how did you manage that?
Sorry, I got that wrong - it’s actually a Barclaycard Rewards credit card I have.

Suspect my mistaken recall is because it was originally the Clarity card I set out to get (a mate has one) but a perusal of the Money Saving Expert website led me to Barclaycard, which I chose for the Cashback and Apple offers.

My mistake perhaps shows how rarely I use it!

Any of you using Chip? - I've seen it mentioned but not seen a thread yet.

Chase has been ideal - but was also thinking of trying Chip at 3.4%
I used chip a few years ago, at the time they weren’t regulated so if they went under you’d lose your money, that might have changed now though. I closed my account with them as they started to charge if you saved over a certain amount a month and they’d randomly take money out of my account.
I've been looking at Chip after seeing them highlighted in MoneySavingExpert for that 3.4% instant access savings. MSE say Chip have 'partnered with ClearBank to offer it's 3.4% instant access account' and therefore it does have the usual £85k protection.

Not sure what that says about anything else they offer, but that account at least seems to be.

On the one hand it's great that for once Chase has moved quickly. On the other hand I know they say they are not linked to BOE rates but it sou have been higher

If they aren't using the boe rates give us rates based on the fed. Even better lol

Is anyone struggling to pay money into Chip from a Barclays current account?

It seems the Chip app only do transfers via open banking rather than providing a sort/account number. Whenever trying to do a Barclays transfer in, of any amount - it says I've exceeded the daily transfer limit.

I can pay in via debit card, but only relatively small amounts - and I appear to have broken that by doing about 8 on the bounce. Chip app just errors now when trying another.

By coincidence - was trying to do the exact same last week and ended up leaving it.

Also - please keep us posted how you get on, and I'd suggest putting a trial amount into Chip first and see how you get on withdrawing it.

After doing a bit more reading I'm not so sure I'll be rushing into it.

I've done alright on one Chip account under my name, as my bank is Santander and as much as they usually frustrate me - the open banking way to send money over was fine, and also done some test withdraws that happened immediately.

Missus is with Barclays, and that's where we're having the troubles.

Thanks Fonzey - I'll keep that in mind and might try the Santander route

It's been bouncing about between £995 and £998 all the time I've had it. As long as it loses no more than a tenner or so I'll have no complaints. I'm only here for the bonus.
I’m in profit! Just checked and my balance is £1001

Its nice but kinda pointless as you can move money from the savings account within seconds.

Yes, my partner and I were discussing this earlier. I tend to keep about £100 in my current account for day-to-day spending, she a bit less. Even if my balance was that £100 for a whole year, that would only earn me a quid, she would be getting just pennies.

I tend to keep cash in the savings account then transfer £100 at a time, I’ve had a few transactions declined for insufficient funds. I might keep a bit more in the current account if it gets a bit of interest.

I use Chase as a cash account and use the deposit accounts, they’re still not a full service bank though. I asked Chase about how to pay a bill in the USA. The answer was that they couldn’t do it.

I tripped over this too, my card wouldn’t work in a Tesco petrol pump where they tried to pre authorise £120 even though filling the car took £50.

Had to use my visa debit instead.
