Any updates on this, I am about to move from lloyds due to being in Scotland. I am not impressed with lloyds online and was hoping nationwide might be better.
Thanks Ed

No internet banking problems here and I've been with Nationwide for almost 20 years. Just a 10 digit number to remember and then 8 digits to input from the card reader; works like a charm!

Avoid them. They cancelled my credit card without warning & then claimed they had sent a replacement which never turned up. They sent a second card & the enclosed letter clearly stated the PIN was the same. It wasn't so after three attempts the card was locked. Requested a PIN reminder, never turned up. Called them & had to ask for another reminder, surprise, surprise, the PIN had been changed.

Absolute shower. I cancelled the card & went elsewhere.

Never had any problems with Nationwide and found them far better to deal with than Barclays for example.

+1 and much cheaper than my Natwest Accounts overdraft facility

The memorable data is only a choice of one word. Mine is the same every time I log on via the "log in with memorable data" page - followed by a choice of 3 digits from the 6-digit pass number you set up initially.

Much better than the card-reader system.

Same here.

I've only ever had good service from Nationwide, even though I do vote against the directors' massive remuneration package every year. wink

I do find their internet banking poor, so much so it puts me off checking my account online, too much of a faff and if you get things wrong it locks you out and you have to jump through hoops to get back online. I suppose if I used it more regularly then I'd get used to it.

It's not unique, HSBC online experience is as poor as well. I find NatWest the best of the online banking I do, not saying it's a good bank account though!.

Ditto, between work and domestic I access online banking with 5 different banks, Nationwide is by far the easiest and most efficient to use. Although I did tell them where to put the card reader...

I can't say I've had any significant trouble, though I use memorable data instead of the card reader to log in. Seems to work as well as the Barclays site, if that's not faint praise. Same for the Nationwide IPS site, though that has a few limitations - transferring funds from non-ISA to ISA investments require them to post you a form to sign and send back, which seems a bit of a pain for an online portal.

Thanks for the info, I am getting rid of lloyds because of the imitations of what you can do online and the lack of a secure messaging service.
As long as it's better than that I will be happy.

And they still havent made an iOS/Android mobile banking app.

Surely one of the last big banks / building societys left without one?
They did that years ago, and it's perfectly decent too.

I use Nationwide and consider their online banking to more user friendly than the competition I have used.

I log in using memorable data rather than the card. There only a couple of pieces of information, one of which is numeric after the inputting the correct coustomer number?

Agreed - the Nationwide iPhone app is a lot better than other offerings that I have used.

I've been using Nationwide's online banking since 2001 with no issues - it has always been the same system of memorable data and a pin.

Seriously if you're moving banks then there really only is one choice. First Direct.

So do I. I don't really know why but it makes me feel better! However my exec director is a proper petrol head and nice bloke. I'd remain a customer even in the unlikely event I ever leave the company.

Timely thread resurrection; I'm in the process of switching my current account to Nationwide thanks to the 4.89% interest it pays on credit balances.

I've only read good things about their iPhone app so far but will report back once I'm up and running with them.

Isn't that credit interest only for the first £2.5K?

Correct: interest paid at the end of each month on balances up to £2.5K for the first 12 months.

I'm getting married in October. Already maxed my expiring cash ISA and have a couple of other savings accounts. Just going to stick a £2.5K float in here and have my salary paid in for a quick return and some additional cash to out towards our honeymoon etc.
