I opened an account last night. Approved within 30 min or so.

Added a couple of savings accounts and put the holiday money in them. 1.5% is way better than nothing on other accounts

Chase have said over time they hope to add more rewards. So will wait and see what happens.

I am using the App and yet I am still a fool. I live in the US where Chase would never buy business through interest rates.1.5% would be insane. I was not doubting the posters, just eager to pounce.

Oh well, I will stick to my 0.02% rate.

You see, if it wasn't for your pesky revolution, you'd be gorging on 1.5% right now :-)

OP was given the best answer in the first reply.

Bit of a hiccup making a transfer this morning. My account’s been debited but funds not arrived. Bit disappointing:-

We're running some security checks on your payment of £720.65 at 11.23AM on 15/06/22. It will be delayed and we may phone you to check some details.

UPDATE - I phoned again just before midnight yesterday and got through quickly. They asked a few questions about who I was paying, it was Mrs BC. They also asked what the money was for, I declined to answer that as it’s really not their business. Anyway the transaction went through.

A lot of fuss about nothing? Hopefully yes and other transfers will happen easily.

I’m just back from the USA where I used the Chase card extensively. The forex rate was always ok and no fees also free to withdraw case from Chase ATM’s. The 1% reward was also useful but for me best of all was that it was accepted at the petrol/gas stations. For those unfamiliar with buying petrol in the US the usual system is to use your card and input your zip code at the pump. If you don’t have a zip code that doesn’t work but the Chase card did.

It used to be that you can use 00000 as a zip code on UK cards

Sadly not any more. Prior to the Chase card I bought pre paid Shell cards from the drug stores.

using your postcode numbers padded with zeros also works sometimes.

Having also spent 4 weeks in the US on a road trip we had a few problems with getting gas using the chase card, but not any different than we have had on other trips, its hugely variable and dependent on the policies of individual gas stations, There were however a few which asked for ZIP and we could not get around without going in and pre-paying with the cashier.

On the whole though i think the introduction of chip and pin in the US (slowly) and contactless has had a greater impact on the zip code problem at gas stations than the chase card being "American" has

ETA generally though using the chase card was a breeze and was never locked in a problematic way needing phone calls to the UK like other cards we have had in the past, even after notifying them of our trip in advance. I did have one oops with a faulty Walmart till which seemingly disabled foreign transactions, but once we were back to the room to investigate and found the setting in the app and enabled foreign transactions again all was good for the remainder of the trip

So with revolut if I put £1000 into the account, then convert it to USD , does this mean when Im using the card in the US it deducts it from that USD amount ?

I wouldn't suffer any charges etc ?

If I was to use my Barclay card then each transaction would be converted to GBP and fees applied I think.
This is how my Starling account works. I transfer money into the euro account at Starlings rate for that day, when I make purchases in euros using my normal card it deducts from the euro balance. I’m assuming other banks work the same way with other currencies.

We were in Florida where the Chase card worked every time. I also have a Marcus card which didn’t work, no idea why not.

Starling doesnt load if you use your card overseas so why not just use the card for your GBP account when abroad? What do you gain by sending it to your EUR account first?

One of the two fill ups which failed was FL but it might have been us trying to use our US BP connect discount card that confused the pump, for the rest of the trip we were everywhere between Washington DC and Florida, inc VA--> WV-->TN-->NC-->GA-->FL-->GA-->TN-->KY-->WV-->VA,4000 odd miles of gas usage and while things were generally better I think it was more to do with chip and pin aware pumps and chase is not a fix all, but then even having a Wells Fargo American bank account and debit card still didn't solve the gas pump zip code problem.

I have a chase account only because Amex no longer give “cash”. However filled up with gas many times this summer in CA/ Nv, AZ,with my Amex card, no need to pre pay at all. Amex told me what to tap into the keypad. Been doing it for the last four road trips.
