I am going through a house purchase at the moment.

I paid for a holiday using my Amex. Before the statement had gone to me it was showing on a credit report. Broker asked me what’s this massive Amex that I didn’t declare?

Explained I was going to pay it off once the bill came in and they said they would have to tell the lender that before getting a mortgage in principle.

Tell your mate to stay away from CC if getting a mortgage.

I have stuffed myself a little as 12-18 months ago I had loads of money transfer offers at 3%. 0% for 18 months in most cases.
I maxed out most of them and stuck the money into savings and ISA etc making between 4-8%. It’s all showing up on my file even though I have the money to clear it the lenders don’t see that!! They just see I got £50k in CC debt.
Ooops

(there’s no law against borrowing the deposit from a cc).
It's not against the law but almost every UK lender bar a couple, would decline your application if they found out your deposit was coming from any sort of borrowing.......
