Talking to an ex-employee he said a lot of the Pendragon employees in the company share scheme are livid as they are contracted to buy X amount of shares and are having to pay around 70p per share, rather than the ultra-low rate that they are now.

But then again he is a car sales man and could be pulling my p-lonker.

That is all.
I think thats probably BS...

Schemes tend to either be share purchase where you buy the share every month with whatever you have deducted from salary, therefore when price drops you pay less (and buy more) or share option where you save a regular amount each month and at the end of the option term either buy the shares at the offer price or you take your cash back out.

I've not heard of one where you agree a price and pay that regardless...

The shares have had a good run this week and are now worth over 9p at close today.

Does anyone who got in below 2p still hold them and want to gloat? laugh

Was in Evans Halshaw in Preston on Wednesday. Got the Focus serviced and also got a sneak pre-launch nosey at the new Ka (mother wants one). Very good service all round, be a shame if they disappear.
Hope they burn down tbh.
After threatening my wife with legal action if she didnt cough up the remaining £8500 (£9k-£500 deposit) to buy the brand new Focus they had just damaged when she went to collect it and subsequently told them she didnt want it anymore! Scumbags, even the dealer principal wasnt interested in what his staff were up to and neither were Pendragon.

Why? Thought you'd just bought a 550.
www.cccscotland.com - I've worked out that now is a good time to upgrade my fleet, so as well as the 550 (which has been branded a good 'un by my local specialist) I'm in the market for a DB9, a 996 Turbo, and a Tuscan/Tamora as well as a couple of other bits and pieces. That's also why I'm very price sensitive! 2009 may be a good year for us..... Here's hoping.

Edited to try and make hyperlink work...

Actually when the post was written cccscotland.com was correct, but subsequently I'm having problems with my host so for the time being that page is out of action...

Owe a bank a £1,000 you have a problem, owe a bank £80m the bank has the problem! If they are into the group for that amount I would expect the banks to be very reluctant to see the business go pop.

With Woolworths I think that it was a different problem - the insurers refused the invoice insurance so the suppliers were making Woolworth payup front for the stock.

I would suspect that the banks would take control over Pendragon before sending the stock to the block...

I don't want to appear to be gloating but I've broken through the 2000% return on these shares today. They've just about rescued my portfolio from the terrible kicking the bank shares have received over the last year or so.

yep its been a nice little earner for some. I am so gutted i didnt have the cash myself but badgered my dad and got him to buy a few, this was in early feb at around 2.5p.

I wish id had the balls to buy a load on the credit card, guess that is hindsight for you!!

Now that would not have been wise! Hindsight is a wonderful thing. Don't worry many of the people sitting on profits will still be holding the shares when the group goes belly up.

I'm sure I'm not the only one reading this thread for the first time who wishes he had of seen it a few months ago...
Even a punt of £100 out of the wages of Joe Average would have given a nice yield.

The price recovery has been pretty unusual though, they could easily have gone the other way.

Trading at 32.5p. I salute all of you that purchased at 2p.

Are any of these worth a punt and hold for six months?

Taylor Wimpey PLC 33.50
Cattles PLC 1.00
Mecom Group PLC 1.48
Yell Group PLC 28.50

Someone has been doing their homework ;-)

Taylor wimpey has been a good earner, got those @ 97p a few months back and hold cattles although not as impressed with them.
TW and Persimmon have had a tough time with the housing market being rather slow but since agreeing new finance arrangements look to be on the mend. Think the right to buy schemes and government funded schemes will have a positve effect and help them shift a lot of the new build homes that are sat unoccupied at the moment as first time buyers cant get mortgages without a 20% or more deposit.

Errr Cattles Shares have been suspended for quite some time

Personally i'd say you've missed the boat for Yell and TW

Maybe look ahead to sectors that havn't recovered yet such as those involved with commercial property (Segro, Workspace) or Insurance Companies (LGEN, AV) etc.... These are all still paying divi's as well

Inchape?

Trading at 18.75 at the moment

peaked at 593 in 2007

So, why have pendragon group share price started to recover, while Inchape bumps along?
