But in the real world people use actual money. Hence why BTC isn’t a currency yet.

As the wager was set in USD and you’ve calculated the outcome in USD then any settlement would be in that currency.

How does the outcome look when priced in GBP as that’s been moving over the last 6 months against the USD?
I will settle it with btc.
Coloured beads and shiny mirrors are superior but luckily the world has moved on from those days and developed real currencies that have a proper value and can be crossed over borders in milliseconds or converted to pretty much any other currency or asset.

Hello! I’m here. What do I owe on the bet? When did you make it?

Will happily pay just give me your wallet address and I’ll send it.

Still love btc, still using btc, best invention ever smile
Your bet was denominated in USD. You dealt a bitcoins forward, struck in dollars, and it wasn’t with me, I had (and have) no particular view on short-term bitcoin levels, I’m just a sort of bystander, amused by those who hold it to be the future.

You've missed the point....

The bet was made on 12th June, with a settlement in 6 months time.

Dimots has said the settlement price is therefore 12th November.

See anything wrong with that?
edit i can't add uplol

You’re working in the archaic old concept of time.

Then you are welching. You dealt in dollars, you need to settle in dollars unless the person you bet with agrees to change it.

You see, this is the point I was making above about bitcoin proponents, they seem not to understand even the basics of the financial markets. You don’t get to strike a bet in one currency then decide to settle in another.

You look to be trying to switch the month, too.

Half the people on here are struggling with adding 6 and 6 at the moment. Not sure finance is for them.

TBH for $2.5k I'd even open a bitcoin wallet. Still be worthwhile. rofl

You don’t have a bitcoin wallet?

Open one...it may teach you something new.

I’ll send you $2500 worth of btc!

I just want to settle the bet. I think he’s getting a great deal, over half a btc at current exchange rates.

Close on June 12th was $6,310.43? Price today is $4097.16? So $2,213.27.

10% premium to buy out early might be deemed fair.

Or in GBP
12th June £5084.73
2nd Dec £3,210.43

£1,874.3 with the same rough premium making it about £2,000?

I think Condi should insist on fiat rather than crypto currency, purely for our entertainment here. smile

I’m not paying in anything other than btc. If you can’t accept btc payments and don’t have a btc wallet you shouldn’t be in this thread.

The problem with paying in fiat is that by the time the delivery has been made half the car has rusted away. Still a superior means of settlement though. biggrin

Tbh I might have to ask for fiat.

Every website wants to tell you how easy it is to invest and buy bitcoin. Non are so forthcoming about how to withdraw cash though.

If btc price is still below $6000 whatever it was on the 12th I’ll pay and it will be in bitcoin. It is very very easy to sell btc for cash don’t be so silly.

Just sign up for a wallet so you have an address for me to send to.

If you win, there’s still time for it all to change smile
