If it was possible to send cash from one person to another anonymously, securely and without the involvement of a third party, I would.

If btc price is still below $6000 whatever it was on the 12th I’ll pay and it will be in bitcoin. It is very very easy to sell btc for cash don’t be so silly.

Just sign up for a wallet so you have an address for me to send to.

If you win, there’s still time for it all to change smile
But that was not the deal that you agreed. You genuinely do not seem to realise that you signed up to a bet denominated in USD. Why do you think that you should have the right to change it after the event?

You’re not surprising anyone with that sort of dishonesty, but it’s pretty disappointing.

Half the people on here are struggling with adding 6 and 6 at the moment. Not sure finance is for them.

TBH for $2.5k I'd even open a bitcoin wallet. Still be worthwhile. rofl
But still, those of us who doubt them just don’t have the vision that they do, apparently.

This thread is amusing if nothing else.

For having to explain to you the basic facts about the deal that you struck?

How so? Surely you should be feeling pretty ashamed at needing the basics explained to you. You want to pretend you struck a quanto deal, you did not, it was vanilla.

Hold your horses fellas. D-day is not for another 10 days yet spin.

I found the original dialogue :

Condi on 12 June 2018 said:
See - I honestly dont understand it. And as for Dimonts, who suggested I go and read a paper written by the developers of bitcoin about how its going to change the world 'for gods sake think for yourself before believing what you read'. You might be right (or rather, he might be right) and its going to be the future. But a market is made of people with differing opinions. How about we do a swop? Say today's price is $6700, in 6 months time whatever the price is we'll pay the difference. If it goes up, I'll pay you the extra, if it goes down, you pay me the difference?
dimots said:
Sure we can do that. See you in six months.
So we've another 10 days before one or the other of them has to pay up. The price of BTC on Kraken as I write is $4090 so if the price doesn't change in the next 10 days Condi should be looking forward to receiving just over £2k! biglaugh

He’s a few days left, but I think he’s lining up a claim that as he didn’t understand the first thing about what he agreed that he should be let off.

I’ll apologise if / when I’m proven wrong, and he does what he said, and pays or receives in USD.

If I wasn’t going to pay I would just log off. Happy to pay if I lose. But I insist on paying with btc.

Fair enough. I can see there are a few days left.

I just don't like the equivocation - I've had to pay a few times where my bullst after a glass of wine or two got ahead of my judgement. It's a matter of honour to make a proper and fair payment if/when the time comes.

But that is not what you promised. Do you honestly think your ignorance is a reason to welch? Why not honour the deal you freely made?

This will follow you around now, I think. As I said, you’re surprising no-one but you really are being a dick by backing out on the deal.

And I know, I know, you are too stupid to understand why your counter proposal is not the same, but that still isn’t an excuse.

I lost a bet years ago and had to pay up in a kilogram of pure silver.

Unlike Dimits I didn’t try to pay in pounds, potatoes, or Bitcoin, I had to head off to a bullion repository, pay, and make physical delivery.

The difference between him and me seemingly bing that I honour my word and he doesn’t.

Quite possible. Lining up the Welch before you know which side you’re coming out on is amateur hour.

And of course, what I’m posting about Dimots is a bit of hyperbole. No-one likely expected him to actually honour the deal, so it’s not shocking when it happens.

I do think his inability to understand the economics of the deal is not unrelated to his hyping of Bitcoin. Like others, he thinks he sees farther than the professionals. Like others he actually hasn’t a clue about financial markets so has fallen for an idea beyond his ability to understand.

Dunning-Kruger effect in action really.

I don’t really understand the insistence on paying in BTC - there’s no material financial advantage, and whist I agree it’s a bit easier if you have the funds in BTC today it hardly seems a showstopper. Possibly there’s a small privacy advantage and i suppose if one were fully ensconced in the bitcoin world such that you didn’t even have a bank account that would obviously be an issue ...
