Sainsburys Defined Access Saver - Issue 39 is 3.05%, if anyone has money sitting in an older issue.
Thanks, I've only recently opened an account with them (Issue 37) at a 2.92% rate, do you have to contact them to change it?

No, it can all be done online.

Apply for issue 39 (instant)
Slide money across from 37 > 39 (instant) - if you want to end up with a round figure in 39 move a round figure across
Close 37, interest to nominated account.

Easily resolved, pay more interest than the rest, not match them.

Agreed - other banks do, but for the sake of 10 minutes work why not, let them generate a new account, post out letters etc, that is price you pay to try and catch out your loyal customers.

Not sure at the moment, quite a few back book issues paying more; so quite possibly less new money available for the given market position compared to previous months

If they can pay a higher rate now, when they have to, they could have before - it is all about what you can get away with and making more profit - fair enough.

I've a partial house sale proceeds just "resting in my account" and it's the Santander 2.72%. Is it worth pushing it over to Sainsbury for the 3.05? Seems a hassle but then... 0.3% is better than I'm getting on my current account.

Chase is paying 3%, you can sign up online using your phone and use the app. All very easy.

£300pa for each £100k, something for nothing if you ask me.

I was pleased that Chase went to 3% so fast because they were very slow to react to the Bank of England interest rate change last time

I'd imagine that 981 meant the difference between leaving the notitional £100k with Santander at 2.72% verses Sainsburys 3.05% being near enough 0.3% equals £300 more a year with Sainsburys.

A useful webpage to calculate interest monthly/annually and with/without tax:

https://www.landc.co.uk/calculators/interest-calcu...

0.3% on £100k works out at £300 PA before tax.
