I have bought wines en-premieur (still being made) before and had them stored and made money on them, but that was through a well established wine merchant.

I have, however, had sales calls from companies offering to do the same thing. Often when I have looked into these, they have often not been established that long or may be offering wines cheaper than the real market price. I do not know the company you mention and I think you need to make up your own mind. My concern was that I might not actually ever receive the goods I had purchased.

I just went on Companies House and it shows this company has only been incorporated sine October 2011. Again I state I have no knowledge or link or grudge with this particular company.
Numerous companies have gone bust for example Hungerford Wines in the 90's owing customers cases of wine they never got.

This is a great alternative area of tax free investing (classed as wasting assets for capital gains tax) but do do some research on who you are dealing with first. You often buy something you never see as it is sold on your behalf at a later date.

Check out the old guard i.e Corney and Barrow, Berry Bros and Rudd, Laithwaites and see how you feel their service, knowledge and dependability compare. You can make some money, or get great wines at launch prices or loose the lot! Caveat emptor!!!

Just my 2ps worth.

I've no knowledge of this company but if you are looking at wine as a possible investment then I have had nothing but good service from Berry Brothers. Been with them since 2008 buying wine both as an investment and for drinking. Advice I have had so far has been spot on.

What Noble said........
Unsolicited invitations for investment are rarely beneficial for you.
Stick to quality names with established "bricks and mortar" businesses so at least it's tangible and not fiction.
Many have gone bust and there are numerous scams out there as they don't have to be regulated.
Tony Hetherington has covered a few examples in his investigations for the Sunday Mail Money section.
Worth a search.

Check out the Ingenious Wine Fund.

If you're going to take a punt on wine, you may as well reduce your tax bill as part of the bargain.

How does that reduce the tax bill ? There shouldn't be any tax on wine.....

This.

If they were any good they wouldn't need to make cold calls....people would recommend them.

Simple, its structured as an EIS.

So according to their website it's structured as an invesmtent in companies that invest/trade in wine....which is obviously to get the income tax relief. Which is a good thing....

The flip side is because it's EIS you have a minimum holding period of three years, the fees are outrageous eek 6.5% upfront, 1.5% a year and 30% performance fee (over 5%) and you don't own the physical wine god forbid something goes wrong.

It's quite a clever prodict but the fees are taking the p1ss beyond belief....the best hedge funds in with multi year records of managing tens of billions of dollars don't charge fees like that.

6.5% investment fee and a 30% peformance fee is the most outrageous schedule I have ever seen.

My name is Steven Carruthers and I am one of the directors for First Capital Financial. I would like to answer a few of the queries that have been raised regarding the company.

We are a wine investment brokerage that specialises in fine wines from the Bordeaux region. We never cold call. We only ever respond to people asking for more information through our extensive web marketing strategy. Even then, we only present them with information about our services and let them go away to decide for themselves whether the investment is right for them - we do not use hard sell tactics.

Our fees are straighforward - 10% of the investment upon purchase (negotiable depending on size of order) and 5% if we sell the wine for you (the wine is stored in the client's own, personal account with the bonded warehouse, that we have no access to, so they are free to sell it anyway, and whenever, they see fit).

We have a varied portfolio of products, which includes En Primeur wines as we have found they can provide very good returns for our clients. Our supplier, Britain's largest fine wine wholesaler, will provide our clients with proof of purchase of their wine to give them peace of mind that their investment is real.

We invite anyone who is interested in knowing more about our services, or who are sceptical about them, to speak to one of our advisors who can put them in touch with a few of our many clients who will be happy to talk to them about their experiences with us and the profits they have made through us.
