Due to recent world political events and the budget looming in a couple of days do people think it's worth chucking a spare £1,000 into an investment ISA ie one made up of two or three funds on an investment platform or play safe and just stick it in a plain old regular one?

I know it's not a huge amount of money but I had a stocks and shares ISA a short time ago that did fairly well over the course of a few years and looking to build up another one again.

£1k isnt much in all honesty and if you need it, id be inclined to just keep it in the bank - the interest will be basically zero anywhere.

If you can leave it mega long term, then an index tracker may be good, and if you can afford to lose it, chuck it at a few shares and see what you can turn it into.

Thanks, I was looking at Index tracker funds as well due to the low running costs. Cheers.

I did this with a stocks and shares ISA (With Hargreaves Lansdown)

I put it all in a fund, I can't remember which one off the top of my head but it made over 10% in a year which beats any interest you will find.

Although of course this is an irrelevant comparison, given the different levels of risk. And past performance is no guide to the future, particularly over such a short period!
