Folks,

Are ANY of the online companies to be trusted? Trying to sell a shared ownership flat. Leasehold obviously with no property to buy afterwards.

Have been quoted £700 by a couple of online places and £950ish by recommended local solícitors. I'm tending towards the latter but it does seem somewhat pricey for sale only, straw poll amongst friends reveals lower prices for sale and purchase...

A good solicitor is worth their weight in gold..........we now have a fantastic solicitor that we refer our clients to.......a fair number of PH'ers will have used her now and not had a single bad word said against her.........I can't comment on her charges in relation to how "cheap" she is or isn't compared to others (nobody has come back and said she is expensive though!) but she is good, which carries a huge value in my opinion.

If you drop me a line, I'll put her in touch with you smile

PS: I used her for my own purchase last year, which is how I found her after a friend giving me her details, and now I refer all our clients to her.......

My FTB at the bottom of the chain is using an online company (https://www.nbmlaw.co.uk). They 'seem' OK, although took an age to get the queries over to my solicitor. Also they have a crap reputation if you look on Google, but are cheap.

Generally speaking I'd read a thread I raised a couple of years ago on exactly the same question when I was an FTB - https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

I've got a local company who are awesome (used them last time I bought and this time for a sale/purchase). Went in yesterday to sign contracts on my current sale/purchase (Hi Sarnie! Again cheers for sorting the mortgage! smile).

For the sake of 250 quid I'd go with a local company every single time. It's not worth the headache if it goes wrong otherwise. Although I would consider Sarnie's recommendation if his solicitor offers the same level of service as he does.

If it helps I'm paying close to £1.4k to sell, so £950 is a pretty decent price...

Thanks, I've had a quote from sarnie's recommendation and it's significantly below some other local quotes I had. I did ask one if they would consider lowering theirs slightly since another local firm did offer and the response was a flat no...

I think selling is far less work conveyancing-wise than buying so I hope my buyers solicitors are proactive since I've already moved and paying for 2 places will be somewhat pricey for a while...

This.

I used Sarnies services to purchase my first property and also used his solicitor recommendation.

Life couldn't have been easier, same day responses from a solicitor, almost unheard of isnt it?

I did get a quote from a local company which was somewhat more but they wouldn't reduce it and also pooh-poohed my optimistic but potentially doable timescale, quoting 10-12wks for a very straightforward sale, not a great sign at the beginning of proceedings...

Well, finally completed. Sarnie's recommended conveyancer really was excellent and without her proactivity I'm sure we would still be waiting. Remind me never to buy a leasehold flat again.

Very well recommended, and as said fir a decent price...

Is she still doing the work and if so, what are her details?

Why should the "value" of the house you are selling or purchasing have any bearing on the cost of service if its all freehold?
