For property - what is the general consensus; are rental prices through an agent negotiable?

Yes - got £1,200 a month down to £1,000 a month. The place had previously been unlet for six months.

Sorry to dig this up - I've found a very nice flat for £575 pcm (three identical ones available through the same agent) so I'm going to see the agents tomorrow hopefully and see if they'll accept £500. Is that feasible? With my current flat it was a big fat "no" when I asked about rent negotiation, and that's for £525 pcm.

I wouldnt imagine that you would get £75 off tbh. You should be able to knock it down to £550 a month.

Yeah I was thinking it might be a bit ambitious, always worth asking I guess.

I have a number of BTL properties, and to be honest if would depend on numerous circumstances as to whether i'd drop £75 off a property in that kind of range.

These obviously include demand in area, how long the tenant is willing to sign up for, and obviously how much I is owed over the property/mortgage.

In the whole I'd probably say no, however would be more willing to drop £25 & thrown in maybe a washer/dryer or fridge/freezer if these are not already in place.

Just ask the question, the landlord can only say no.

All white goods are in place, but it is in a very sought after location so it probably has had a fair amount of interest already. I would easily agree a 12 month contract if it was brought down to the £500-ish mark, I would imagine this would help a fair bit. Fingers crossed for tomorrow then!

It that case I suspect the answer would be no, unless it is genuinly overpriced to start with.

They're prepared to accept £550, not too shabby
