mods, please leave in here until a suitable response has been provided as it's quite important.

Just went to use my HSBC card, the EPoS beeped and the cashier was advised to phone hsbc.
She eventually got through to our off-shore customer services, who in a broken english said "systems are down so can't help."

I've since tried to use a cash machine, and couldn't check balance as Service Unavailable.
I couldn't draw money out as "exceeded my daily limit." - which is utter rubbish.

Phoned them up and was told "Service unavailable - for business banking press 1."

Everything points to their systems being down, which is very unusual - but I can't find any mention of it via google/ hsbc.co.uk nor in here.

So, could someone with HSBC just ensure they're also unable to use their services.

Cheers

p.s. I know this ought to go into the finances section, but I am needing access to my money asap and so need to know whether it's my card, or hsbc as a whole.

Thanks

well, by the time we got out of bed, she'd gotten ready - i was still in the mindset of breakfast.

but yeah, been all of today without access to my cash. I only bank with hsbc and don't have any credit cards - the bloody feckers !

However, I did manage to use an ATM at around 1900 - unfortunately, she'd gone home by then.
so thanks to hsbc, i look like either a cheapskate tw@, or someone who's had their card declined.

Not At All Impressed !!!!!!!

FWIW

I sent off an email, as mentioned by the guy above (forgot your name bud, sorry.)
However, HSBC have just been on the phone (0131 number, nice scotish lady.)

I've been awarded compensation to cover the embarrassment of being forced into a security check by the cashier - and declined, then for my phone bill....

The grand total ? ........ £15

The Milky Bars are on me !

It isn't a lot, but it sure beats an automated apology that some banks would send out.
