My boss has just bought this ( well, he will have as of Tuesday)
and is planning a restoration

its in the Languedoc
176 rooms, four of us living there at the moment.
Plans are for a complete restoration ( he has the permissions from batiment france and the local marie) as part of developing it into a residential sports training facility for Olympic athletes - my boss was an elite level shot putter -
if there is interest I will continue a thread on the restoration.

Ok, so this is a bit pic heavy smile
The chateau was part of a monastery, sold into private hands 30 years ago and now bought by my Patron.
It has not been lived in for 5 years so a lot of the infrastructure is not working, so we have floors with no light, but heat, floors with no heat but light, but no hot water, etc etc, its a bit like Glamping.

So the plans are to begin work at the end of may, and be finished by the end of October smile
Will post some more photos as I take them.
At the mo we are just trying to get all the electric and water/ heating systems in some sort of shape so that My Boss and I can at least have the basics ( actually it is our wives who want the basics, I think we would be quite content as it is.)
There are also some 50 hectares of lands that need restoring, including 8 hectares of vineyard that need immediate attention if we are to have a crop this year.
Our goal is to have the restaurant open by early june, the residential bits done by the end of june, and sports facilities ( Olympic grade running track, dojo, shotput and hammer fields, pool, football fields, etc etc) open by end of November.

We are starting with 20 Dutch builders ( my Boss is Dutch) They are moving in the end of may. These guys will concentrate on the buildings, there are specialist teams coming in for the outdoor facilities.
The 20 Dutch guys all know my boss and have been down last year when the buying process started.
THe building looks better in photos than it does in actuality smile
THis afternoon we finally got the stove working in the kitchen so we can cook, its been sandwiches and pizza for quite some time now smile

That my friend is a wine cave, for making and storing wine. it holds 600 hectalitres that is 60 thousand litres. This year we hope to have about 15 thousand bottles from our vines. We are going to plant another 10 hectares of vines next year so hope to get that up to 50k bottles a year.
However if you want beer, the abbey de Fontfroide, which is a couple klicks away produce 60 thousand bottles of beer a year smile

Are the 4 of you helping with the build as well or 'working from home' whilst its going on?

am already planning on Frikadelle smile
will send you a pm, am sure that as we progress we will need more builders.
Most of our staff is Dutch or English, the French cannot understand how we can multitask the building/ restoration/ the sports facilities / and the restaurant all at once!

The boss is overseeing the whole build operation, and I am setting up the kitchens/ restaurant and feeding all the staff. MRs Santona is in charge of getting the orchard back into shape and Mrs Patron is doing all the admin work
