Wherever you go, spend the money on the mattress and not the bed frame. The mattress is what counts.
I'd recommend the John Lewis 'Natural Collection'.
They're £600 - they worth that? I'd recommend the John Lewis 'Natural Collection'.
What do you get for £250
After many years of ghastly, shagged-out rented house mattresses stained with maps of Ireland, it was time to move into our own place and splash out.
I originally thought that £600 for the cheap one was money enough, but having tried the 7000 spring count Yorkshire wool version in-store, there simply was no contest.
Worth every penny to wake up refreshed and non-achy.

Do NOT go to Dreams! The worst fking service I've ever experienced, didn't deliver, didn't give a st!
Similarly don't go to anywhere owned by moneygrasping outfit Steinhof - notably Bensons (which now includes the Sleepmaster brand (wonder why they hid that?). Cheap goods cleverly marketed for high prices by highly polished salesmen, and woe betide you if you have any problems with the goods after purchase.Poor customer experience with dreams. The showrooms are just that - rooms shown to you by salesmen.
Once you have paid they are totally disinterested and wont talk to you any more.
Any questions or queries relating to your order they refer you to a helpline number that takes forever to answer.

Seen them recommended here a few times, will probably be looking to get our next bed/mattress from them but haven't yet purchased myself.

We have recently purchased 3 new beds from Benson for beds and come away with a deal we were happy with and also very happy with the products too. We paid around £1400 after negotiating a 15% discount for a Kingsize Divan, single Divan and a new single mattress for a Divan base we already had. All beds and Mattresses are good quality and very comfortable, customer service was satisfactory and delivery service was spot on also...
I think the important thing to remember is that you do spend a 3rd of your life on your bed so buy good quality and so long as you come away happy with the deal you get and the product then the rest is irrelevant tbh...
Take your time to look and try out many different variations to ensure you end up with the right one too

Beds are like carpets and wallpaper. Commodity items where price has driven quality down as manufacturing techniques get leaner and meaner.
We need a new bed currently and are wondering where to go bto I cause it's obvious that the national showroom big four or so are generally low quality mid price garbage.

Last time I used a local indy which had been there as long as I could remember. Recommendeed a Harrison, which has been good. I believe they've improved now with more pocket springs. I'd have one again.
You do need to add a board to a slatted bed base for pocket sprung though, I found.

Haha, if you think £600 is pricey, don't look on here: http://www.hastens.com/en/beds

Exactly the same here. Harrison (in England) made one to order for us: a firm side for me and a medium side for my wife. Cost about £600 and it's wonderful. Recommended.PS. The margins on beds are huge. 60% mark-up by retailers isn't uncommon. And you can ignore the price-match offers in store since all the big companies get their mattresses made uniquely for them so you won't find an *identical* product anywhere else, even if the brand and spec is all the same. The colour/pattern of the material will be slightly different so they can claim it's unique.
