I'd be all over that castle if it wasn't on an island.

Is this area of the North West really that bad?

These seem very very good value for money, lovely views, decent size, all for £625k

I've been to Workington and Cockermouth. I've no real desire to visit again, nor did I think it looked like an area I'd like to live in.

as you say, each to their own - I quite like those, except house 1 is stupidly large for 2 people

It's an awful lot of new house for not much money, which will suit many.

It's the most unlived in looking, lived in, property that I have ever seen....it also reminded me of a house my daughter would build in Sims or Roblox.

To be fair, Rothesay/Bute is one of the easier islands to reach, and close to major populations fairly quickly. It's also probably the one you'd least like to live on hehe

They remind me of something from the Miami Vice film a few years back.
The first photo of the first one makes me think of an interdenominational church.

Yeah, that's true - as Scottish islands go, it's pretty accessible. You can be in Glasgow or Edinburgh in no time at all.

Although you're relying on CalMac...

Don't know the place at all - my family is from the other side of Scotland. Purely out of academic interest, what's up with Rothesay/Bute?

The tiny castle is ice cold energy rating score 1!

Surprised the "Torridon" one is only C rated despite being built in 2021.
Is that ice-cold tiny castle cold due to leakage or that there's no separation between the floors?

Whatever the reason, I think the developer's taking a bath on that one. What looked a great idea a year of few ago wasn't.

I've been to them both once.

Cockermouth is erm okay, if you like 1978.
Workington? Hell on earth based on driving through as quick as possible.

I had a similar house that was dripping with damp, we stripped all the internal plaster off and re did it with lime and it remained dry as a bone after the lime dried, modern insulation in the roof and new heritage double glazed windows with very thin double glazed panes, I was lucky the roof was still OK and the walls were straight though. We did it all including rewire and plumbing and heating in 12 weeks, this one wouldn't frighten me at all.

Not too keen on the big caravan site near by but they don't seem to be travelling types.
