Oh so it’s a “gym” until it’s finished and the kitchen / bedroom is fitted? Floor makes a bit more sense now

I want pics when the gym equipment cracks the flooring between the battens.
Maybe the builders will glue battens on the bottom of the gym equipment to line up with the floor battens?

I think what's kackered them is that those boards have T&G at the ends, and from what I can tell they've cut them to fit the batten spacing, which has lost the T&G...
OMFG I think you're right!! rofl

Oh and do you have underfloor heating in the concrete floor? If so there is a good chance that they have put holes in the pipes so suggest you pressurise the system NOW to find out.
Hopefully not as it’d be underneath the insulation, but wouldn’t put it past his builders.

Looking again I don't think they have, there are extra battens to support the T&G end joints. The cut ends above are the mystery "gap"

Oh well, could be worse... ? Edit: yes.

Fair play to you but do you ever think cheapest isn't always best?

You have to wonder why people like the OP start threads like this if they know it’s totally wrong but are not willing to take any advice from presumably quite a few who know better than the OP.

Having read it all through and being a carpenter for over 30 years I have to say I’m quite amazed at the work output in the time scale and from the pics the quality and how they’re doing it.

Each to their own I guess. Carry on.

Personally this is why I do everything myself whenever possible. A couple of quality YouTube videos a lot of forum reading to ensure that I've not missed some variables or differences and off I go. Is the result as good as a proper expert? Probably not but it's miles ahead of these cowboys.

Redoing it will be a pain you'll need to empty the room, get the skirting boards off or the little runners at the base of the boards. Get all this crap out, clean up what's there, and start over again. If your happy to end up with a wavey floor that everyone is going to notice crack on I guess!

Why does it not reach the wall on the left of that pic? What's going there?

And have you checked the floor height in relation to the bottom of the sliding doors?

Yes, don't put the floor on battens, which eleventy three different people have already told you to do in this thread.

In this picture it appears that the battens are level with the bottom edge of the door meaning the floor will be 18-20mm higher than the door once it's laid on top.

I'm certainly no expert but I layed a couple of floors. Problems I see are the doors and the gap between the wall and the start of your first run. It's about 1.5 boards wide? The last .5 will have top be quite a bit thinner to allow you to angle in the tongue or could lay the 1.5 as one piece but thats not easy.

Very seriously, is it too late to take up the boards and start again without the battens?

How much have you paid or have agreed to pay these idiots?
Sack them off now and put an advert on gumtree for free firewood.
Then sort out all your planning problems before finding someone who knows what they are doing to lay a floor for you
