Which kitchen appliances actually last?
Discussion
We had a dishwasher fitted last week that worked for less than 2 seconds.
Fitters spent an age fitting the Beko. Switched it on, the lights flashed, then died.
They tried to find the fault, then gave up and called for an engineer. He arrived the following day, gave it the once over and declared it a dud.
We get our new machine on Friday.
I cannot remember previously buying an electrical good that failed to work perfectly, out of the box.

We generally buy the cheapest appliances that will fit in the holes. All ours are fully integrated, so I don't care if they're CDA, Electrolux or Miele. So long as the fridge keeps things cold, the freezer keeps things frozen, the washer makes clothes clean and the dryer dries them I am quite happy.
In terms of longevity I think the White Knight dryer is winning at about 8 years.
Generally agree apart from one point - CDA. In terms of longevity I think the White Knight dryer is winning at about 8 years.
The most diabolical waste of energy and resources I have ever seen are CDA appliances. Just binned a 6 month old washer/dryer and dishwasher because they were fking absolutely useless from new and the “warranty” “support” was even worse. Their “engineer” was an unqualified useless arrogant ahole.
Issues not isolated - every house in the development has problems with them.

I had an oven that lasted even less time than that, although to to be fair I can't blame the manufacturers (Stoves)... the delivery guys dropped it in the road getting it out of the lorry. 12 years on its replacement is still working fine and showing no inclination to throw itself in to traffic. Miele washer has just gone wrong after 8 years. Still under warranty so a service call, however there's a 10,000 hour limit on use, not just 10 years, bit like a car with mileage or age. Previous one started smoking but managed to get fire brigade out before any damage done.
Had 11 Miele appliances in the previous house. Ovens went wrong numerous times, dishwasher too. But when they're working they are good to use.
One Miele engineer took an oven out, fixed it, then couldn't get it back in again saying "that could never have fitted in there" when he took it out! Had to get kitchen fitter in to replace it.

and seal no longer available.
I will buy another one when we next Move as ot has been superb
Miele fridge
utter rubbish made of cheap plastic
handles broke after 1 year
freezer draws all cracked or broken
will never buy another

I think I've been luckily with appliances apart from one:
Neff dishwasher lasted 3 years. Had their engineer out and even he couldn't fix it despite replacing multiple parts and several visits. My Dad has had loads of problems with his Neff appliances...
I'm on an 11 year old Bertazzoni professional range oven (bought second hand), 3 year old Samsung fridge freeze, 5 year old Samsung washing machine, and a second hand Bosch dishwasher which is probably 5 years old. Everything working great.

What does the seal look like, might well be a stand size o-ring or lip seal?
https://www.sparesonweb.com/shop/drain-pump-miele-...shows the seal
(this is on a replacement pump I have used)
The seal was only "possibly" available from Italy
but the cost and likelihood of it not being
I went with the new pump
As has been said many times before - Siemens, Bosch, Neff and Gaggenau are brands of the same company. Only the appliances built in Germany are worth buying - the lower ends of each's range are made elsewhere and are simply not as robust / reliable, even though they may share some components.
Fair enough, if you can get the pump for a reasonable price, life goes on.
Fridge wise, I can recommend the Liebherrs. Only 15months in but they look and free great, keep everything fresh, and are very quiet. With the optional fan off I can't hear the fridge, the freezer you can hear but it's a lot quieter than most.
We wanted basic plan white, no ice box or whatever, but large and ended up with the below.
Bought locally, price matching AO.
K 4310 Comfort £849
GNP 4355 Premium £949
or
SBSef 7242 Comfort £1694

How big is your kitchen?! That’s a lot of fridge/freezer space. Fridge wise, I can recommend the Liebherrs. Only 15months in but they look and free great, keep everything fresh, and are very quiet. Pair of 1850x600 units. Kitchen proper, up to far side of peninsula is 4x2.6m total room inc table area 4x5m. Fridge freezer pair are maybe about 20-25% of the cupboard space?
There is only two of us although it's speced for growth, but it's great to have a load of fridge space, we both live busy lives with my partner working lates/nights as per of her oncall rota, so the freezer is full of meal we have made excess of and frozen. Saves eating microwave pizza all the time!

As well as CDA another brand to avoid is Lamona, the Howdens own brand. Very cheap brittle plastics which break. I had a 2 year old cooker hood basically disintegrate as so much of its construction used this crappy plastic. It never worked that well either.
I also ordered some new Baumatic appliances for a flat I was doing up to sell. I fitted the oven, turned the electricity off to do some other work and when I turned it back on the oven didn’t come back on. Since ordering and fitting Baumatic had gone bust and the guarantee was worthless, and I had a flat to hand over in about a week, so the only option I had was to buy an identical one off eBay and hope this time it worked.
