On first glance it may not seem an obvious contender, but hear me out. Just down the road from my olds last house, for years it was a quaint little cottage requiring renovation. Now renovated, it's like a 14 year old lad who's discovered masturbation, and doesn't know when to stop. Extensions off extensions. Downstairs bedrooms (so likely for kids) off reception spaces (yeah, that'll help them sleep) and a downstairs shower room with all black tiles, meaning you'll need to steal some football ground floodlights to get it bright.
To me, a massive missed opportunity, and a mess.
I agree, it's a mess.
Ahm ooot!

I posted my parents old place on here sometime ago, asking if a nightmare. The general consensus was no for a lick of exterior paint (the baby blue chalet-bungalow) but that it would be a shame for someone to carve up their then lovely large back garden. I can report that that won't be happening, as it's been sold to a family made up of multi generations, who have now moved in. The double back to back garage is becoming a dog grooming parlour, so post treatments the doggy clients will have a smashing place to let off steam.

My parents old place was sold with PP for a bungalow to be built at the bottom of its garden, and it required a hell of a lot of effort to get approval for this. I don't get someone in planning looking at a proposal for this and thinking 'yeah, that looks good'
Permitted Development? Not sure where to start, the glazed balustrading making it look like an office conversion, the kitchen in such a narrow room for the size of the property, the massive home cinema that appears to bigger than my local actual cinema, WTF is the glazed stage area about? The grey, THE GREY, SO MUCH GREY!

I probably wouldn’t have gone as dark grey as they have, but grey is just another variant of off white, and a perfectly fine neutral colour in the “right” shade. I quite like the contrast of grey paint and white wood, when compared to the creamy/yellowy off whites.
In my view the dark grey and the dark grey carpets is what makes that a bit challenging, rather than it being grey per se.
