I have watched this one being built over the last year. £3.25m in Berkshire between Maidenhead and Bracknell (that's not how they describe it!) 6 bedrooms, decent grounds, double garage but wow it's rather grey. Even the men's shirts strategically placed in the walk-in wardrobe are grey and white! Not sure I like the stone mansion style either myself... scratchchin

I'd be looking to extend the kitchen/breakfast wing into a full kitchen/diner/sitting room & do something about the wierd kitchen to pantry commute, but otherwise it'll do me, ta.

(Ok, it looks like there's an MOD firing range just up the road, but on the basis that it was a successful cottage rental & B&B, I've convinced myself they haven't got any money for bullets these days....). CF.
I live near the ranges on Salisbury plain. I often hear rifle fire, heavy machine gun fire, even tanks and artillery fire. It bothers me not one jot. In fact I quite like it. Also, fair amounts of helicopter noise and tank engines/tracks rumbling. They don't tend to do it on weekends (although occasionally do). Yet the guy accross the road doing some hammering the other day got right on my tits.

It’s a nice pub. I use it as a venue to dump two children on the swings and go and grab a nice pint. But Bledington is a bit of an odd village with a lot of social housing just off the green and much of the way towards Kingham. While it’s closer to Kingham station than Kingham is they’ve never really succeeded in selling it as the next Kingham. And that building is bolted on to the side of the still working farm so it does seem like a lot of money to park yourself between a pair of smelly (st or cooking oil depending on the wind direction) and noisy commercial establishments.
That’s that then. It’s a no from me!

That seems half decent value to me - or am I mistaken?
No, I don't think you are, but as someone said, it's a pastiche of a stone built mansion...

Its very generic wannabe Russian oligarch but given it backs onto a golf course I'd make an exception.

Odd isn't it, a busy road can sound remarkably like a weir, don't mind listening to a weir all night.
A motorbike with noisy exhaust winds me up (and I like bikes) But I'll wave at the tractor going down the lane or combine behind the house!

The wife is trying to persuade me to go and see this - which looks like a lot of house for the money. I believe that may be to do with the noise from the Stansted planes, as Little Hallingbury I think suffers from that. And my idea of moving was to down-size, rather than t'other way round...

Bit of an odd one that. Other than the massive kitchen there's no nice sized lounge to relax in so unless you like games or cinema you'll spend all your time sitting in the open plan kitchen. Looks like the master bedroom doesn't have a proper shower which would be a no no for me because I like a decent shower in the mornings. Do you really want an indoor swimming pool? Looks fun but I'd bet the novelty would soon wear off. Are you in the market to buy an additional bungalow, if not that's just adding to the price for no use. It's got 5 bedrooms so unless you have a live in granny, nanny or teenager you can't get rid of it's useless and finally, there's no garage that I can see. Ah'm oot.

Very special. I could move there and never leave the estate for the rest of my life.

Any ideas of asking?

Utterly stunning.

However I am too much of a misanthrope to live in a place like that with all the staff needed to keep it running. Shame really, I will have to spend my millions* elsewhere.

  • Note to self: Earn millions to spend... hehe
