That's no way to refer to a nappy change.

Congrats
Enjoy the house now(if you get any time!) before it gets buried in soft toys, dolls & toy prams smile

Thanks Nick (and everyone). Updates are a bit sporadic now, and a good night's sleep is a distant memory.

Anyway, We have had the front of the house fenced and two sets of double gates (12ft across each so enough space for bigger vehicles) put in. I have also planted some laurel hedging which I hope will take, as one day I would like a nice, shaped hedge across the front of the house.

The front of the house is the last bit to do, and there is a lot of landscaping to do. We have permission to drop the kerb on the left hand gate (right is already dropped), but Lambeth make you use their own contractors and the £3k + VAT they quoted is highway robbery! The convenience of parking right outside the door just is not worth that, frankly.

Before:

After. Still scruffy, but starting to improve. Look at the grand house next door to see how far we have to go with the exterior cosmetics! Annoying extra soil pipes we had to add as a bodge will be dealt with with a new foul drain when we do the drive properly...I want gravel, for security and the way it looks. Hardstanding where the CLS is parked will stay so I can work on cars etc.

One inexpertly planted bunch of plants, living on hope and prayer in anticipation of bushy hedge goodness, one day:

Harry

Good to hear from you, sporadic updates post child are the way these threads always go (same happened to me smile ).

One thing about the hedging. If you’re after a good shaped hedge, laurel is a bit ungainly and can look rough after trimming. Something like Yew would make a better more sophisticated hedge and doesn’t take that long to grow up and responds well to shaping.

It’s also evergreen too.

Harry, can the top bit of the white section be used as a balcony?

Lots of photos - we had the house photographed for a short let as we intend to leave the country for a few months next year...

Stunning home Harry.
It might have taken a while for the builders and decorators to make it look like that but I bet it took a similar time for you and your wife to put the details together.

I don’t have much of an idea of style, or interior decoration skills so don’t let this opinion hold too much sway but...

I really like that. Looks basically perfect, a very nice home.
