I've been away for a few days but fantastic progress has been made. Great to see the end client is pleased with the project.
I am the end client!!! Nick and the team (and Israr & Nasir - I'll spell it right one day soon) have been incredible. Seriously great wok guys. I am in awe.
Ha ha, you aren't, it's your daughter's pool, you've just been given the privilege of funding it and providing a place to put it.
OK, that is quite true!

But it is suddenly my pool when we have to get (the worlds most random) snake out!!!

The confused beast it gone, and I am still paying...!) Oil costs about £300 a week at this (34 degrees) temperature! We are going town 0.5 degrees a day until we hit 30...

£300 a week!!!! That's more than my combined gas and elec for over a year. What's the cost going to be like in winter?

Still awesome job. Glad it seems to be going along smoothly. Snake in the pool aside.

That is including the initial heating (from nothing). It looks lie it will be expensive (c. £6k a year) but worth it for the smiles and happiness!

Found a 2 foot long grass snake on my drive last week (dead though). They like water. We find them about once a year or so at home. Had one swimming in the pool too.

They are harmless but they do emit a foul-smelling substance if you try to handle them. My wife would emit a foul smelling substance if I brought the snake towards her - she can deal with any creepy crawlies other than snakes.
This one was a good 3 foot long.

It had substantial girth too. Hi Gretchen! biggrin
Worth a lol

Great job and looking fab, well done to all. Re the heating, is there no way you can incorporate solar panels to help raise the temp a few degrees? Too late now but a Ground Source Heat pump under the pool would have helped too. Did you consider either?

I've been following the thread from the start, and think it's proper awesome.

But I don't think anyone has said it yet... the climbing frame needs to be relocated so the slide goes into the pool...

I suggested it on page 28 wink

So will this be re-purposed as a water slide? The trampoline and swings would also provide excellent means of accessing the pool. hehe

I'd suggest raiding the neighbours oil tank. It's PH lol

Do you live in a shoe?

How do you get manage to spend just twenty-five quid a month on power?

Justin, how big is your tank. I have 2500 litres and it works well but I have run out before. I've got a long stick to check it and if I forget, god help me

Edited to say I actually have a clever dls file which works out a rolling average over 7 years smile

Awesome project!

Not attempting to put a downer on it but the lack of experience in paving is bugging me. Crossed pointing (four slab corners meeting), too many straight lines in pointing (for too long) and no repeated pattern kept. It's killing my OCD.

That's better than >£15k. I thought I'd read that it was delivered pre-heated. Will you keep it warmed all winter or drain it and refill?

The loft is very very well lagged, it's a double glazed small terraced house Inbetween 2 young families and catches the sun all day. The boiler is rarely on, the thermostat is set at 12oC, I like it cold. I tend to shower at the gym etc and don't really use much electricity, charge my phone at work and stuff. My girlfriend is moving in this autumn so I imagine it will soar this winter.

at least you lot dont have to wake up to one of these fella's doing lengths in your pool ....

Takes a big stick, and a lot of bravado to get rid of him, but lots of hero points and beer rewards when he crashes off into the undergrowth.

Two snakes with tits?!?

I used to swim in the local quarry/pits/nature reserve. There were often snakes passing across the water, never scared, more fascinated to watch them. It was probably just seeking out the warmth. Not looking for somewhere to lay it's eggs...

Looking great sitting within the paving. Water is a nice blue and the kids look so happy, and obviously eager to enjoy it.

It was my lad's 16th at the weekend so we've been busy. He's had a good weekend. His Dad having 'forgotten' his birthday and gone out for the day despite having arranged to see his son / I had even taken him there... so Julian, once again, you are a fantastic Father

Laying pattern. We ignored it as they have far more straight joints.
