Has potential to be properly epic.

Has potential to bankrupt.
Have you checked out the ‘similar properties’ section at the bottom. The similarity is almost unnerving.

Another money pit. Interesting architecture but a little too Gothic for my taste. Used to be a prep school, now a timeshare.

That would swallow a lot of cash, I'm sure. Whatever happened to timeshare?

£2M is a reasonable price though, I thought.

Looks amazing, but you'd need deep, deep pockets.

That's been annoying me. I know why - it's the absolute spit of Knockderry House Hotel just over the hill where I stayed a night in 2007 or so on the way to a Tour of the West Coast and islands:

Not strictly an entry to this thread as it's not for sale, but I saw this house last night on a bike ride which i'd somehow never noticed before.

Quick google and it's actually a very intruiging AirB&B

https://www.airbnb.co.uk/rooms/1251982

Very eccentric, but seems to somehow work and appear nice. Cracking property though!

Apologies if been on already. Apparently James Martin's place - kitchen looks nothing like his 'home kitchen' on the telly.
Things I like:

  1. The number of garages.
  2. Nope, that's it...

I was quite amazed at the bad taste. Plenty of name dropping in the description too.

There's nothing quite like being buzzed by chinooks when trying to relax with a G&T smile
Yep - RAF Odiham for proper G&T wrecking noise.

Mind you, Chinooks are cool, so...

I would love to buy something like that with 4-5, and effectively have a small boutique hotel-esque place for our and our families' use, whenever. I have 3 mates who are interested in such a scheme.

But it would need to be in France, near some skiing.

It's very quaint, £400,000 for a genuine 500 year old hovel. - https://countrylife.onthemarket.com/details/445611...

Imagine what the original owners would think of the price, if they owned it and not rented it from the landowners.

Is it just me that wouldn't put the chairs under the lowest part of the ceiling?

surely that is where you want them as you are sitting down, not standing up?

Think I'd rather sit under the lowest bit than have to walk / stoop under it... Either way, no thanks.

I believe it's still illegal to "riotously demolish a hovel"

That’s truly awful imho ... I wouldn’t give them £4K never mind £400k

This house https://www.fineandcountry.com/uk/property-for-sal... overlooking Lake Windermere is very special, however I’m not sure about this particular bathroom:

It would seem a little odd doing your dirty business in what appears to be a sitting room.

It’s definitely interesting.

9 apartments run as holiday lets would easily generate £300-£500/week depending on spec. The occupancy rate in this area is pretty much 80% without trying. That would give a base gross revenue of £150k.

You could probably build on that with a series of basic additions such as a spot of glamping and upselling activities.

It’s right by the M5 although it’s a bit of a treck from London and the Home Counties which would have an impact.

All in, what springs to my mind is that for the money they are asking it must have been stripped of its maintenance budget in the dying decades of the timeshare and need a lot spending to get it back on track?

ETA those 9 apartments are just the main house so 5 extra cottages in the grounds.
