Just enquired about joining Octopus and they gave the quote below. Is this a good tariff or should I be waiting out for better

Your standing charge is cheaper but the unit price is about 1p more per kWh.
Is this the standard variable tariff?

My first attempt at playing the system yesterday. I have taken part in all sessions but up to yesterday only earned a total of £14.68.
Yesterday I was using about 2kw per half hour between 1.50 and 4.30 ( got home too late to start at 1.30)
Looking forward to seeing what I get this time. Readings below

Yes, I try to do gas every 2 weeks now to keep an eye on it, Gas Smart meter got cancelled due to access issues...

I keep getting told someone has tried to look at our meter but hasn’t got access (that will be because you only come Monday to Friday 9 to 5 when my ex is at work).

I’ve emailed them in the past and they’ve said as we have a smart meter we don’t need to do anything…yet always have the emails…

I believe even with a smart meter someone will try and do an annual safety and tampering check. However, this is nearly always subcontractors so Octopus probably haven't a clue.

I’ve just been looking at my energy use for last Monday. During the all important 13:30-16:30 window I reckon I got through almost 10kwh. That would have cost me about £1.40 at my daytime rate. Consumption between 17:30-18:30 looks negligible, so I may be in line for my biggest Octopoints payout yet.

Last time I had 5256 points and was approx 8kWh during that time, this time I seem to have managed just shy of 10kWh so i'm expecting a small jump myself, guess we'll know in a day or so.

I'm thinking I may be around the 300w saved so maybe 600 points

I thought I had a cheap rate! How long do you have left on that tariff?

I used 0.147kWh during the saving session, and as I was at work, 0.344kWh across the 13:30-16:30 window, which means my points will be somewhere in the region of naff all!

Doing the math, I guess I've "saved" 200w or so which equates to around 360 points, plus the 100 extra as a bonus for turning up!

Not as long as I would like. It’s the original Go (13.5p daytime / 5p 00:30 - 04:30) 25p standing charge. It finishes early May.
