Repost from page 481 of the old thread http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a... More discussion there of just what it might take to turn that sad wreck into a home.

now this I really like:

just ticks all the boxes... except for location frown
looks cool. I can't help but think that a character property like this would have aspects to it which would drive me nuts within 5 minutes of living there.
I like how the estate agent has left the before and after photoshop versions of their pictures on the advert!

BEFORE

AFTER

Its hard to tell above but quickly flick back and forth between the two above on the actual website - they have stretched the building!

Looks to me more like they've used the distortion correction tool (to align the verticals originally distorted by the wideangle lens)

Although for a house that visually looks large, inside is quite small. Sitting rooms is smaller than mine while the master bedroom doesn't even have a shower or his and hers basins. Expected more.

The outside sort of works, but the proportions of the rooms are completely wrong for anything hoping to look 'Georgian'.

A fairly lacklustre house built in the 1950s.

No, knock down and rebuild.

Google earth shows the prior house in situ.

The satellite view on the rightmove link shows the house under construction.

The plans are publically available on the H&Fulham website. It was going to have an underground car park with lift and turntable!

I have driven by weekly since they started the work (thnk it was Sizebreed doing the work). I don't think its a great spot in all honesty, opposite the council flats and with the park over the wall on 2 sides.

I agree. When I originally saw it, I thought it was the lodge opposite the Vineyard on Hurlingham Rd.

I wouldn't want to be so close to the council estate. You get enough problems from them if you live on the Peterborough Estate roads (Lion Houses).

very much so. Doesn't get much further away from civilisation in the UK though. Holiday home, for the 'retired' or for the avid work from home recluse.
