Just had the bill from Bulb for December's usage.

£672.

To be fair, in summer it is around £200 so you have to take an average.

Saw something today about a £200 grant in February applied to households who don’t use gas.
There’s no mains gas in my village so assuming we would receive this. Anyone else aware?

I’m also not served by gas. Could have done with this for December, my electric bill jumped up by £150 last month alone and I’ve got a log burner doing much of the heating!

Not received the January payment yet either so account has a big negative on it already.

We only have electricity, and have a air source heat pump as it's a new build.. Wonder if we'll get it.

Is it just me or is that article clear as mud?! Do electric only homes qualify?!

I’m in an old house but have air source (which is useless when it’s cold) I posted because I couldn’t fathom out if it applied to all electric homes or those using Calor Gas/LPG/Oil type fuels.

Supposedly anyone not on mains gas will get £200 back which includes all oil users and calor gas users etc.
This rebate is coming via your Electricity provider which is the bit I find strange!

I am intrigued as to how they know a house has oil or calor gas etc., it could just be an all electric house.

My assumption is that it's anyone with an electric bill and no gas bill? Relatively simple to sort out.

How would they know if I use oil/LPG or just electricity?

Assume they're just going from people who don't have a mains gas supply..?

This is what I assumed but it really isn’t clear. Like most of the cryptic government announcements. Most likely so they can backtrack/change the goal posts and criteria over the next few weeks when realising how much it’ll cost.

makes no sense, The article states to give them th same support that gas user already have, but since the energy cap credit is paid by yyour leccy supplier they are already getting the same support that gaes users are getting aren't they?

Not had an updated bill this month. Submitted readings when I got the reminder the bill was being prepared so still on the estimate.

Nice! They're a damn sight more convenient so it should be a good upgrade smile

I've been on the waiting list for a smart meter for ages now so it's interesting to see they're still out there trying.

I've been anti smart meter from day one. I don't want an "upgrade" - I will resist! My leccy meter has gone around the clock literally and working fine. I take my own readings monthly and pay accordingly.

Fair enough. I don't understand why, but each to their own.

The wife has had that exact same smart meter email (well, with her name on, not Richard)

Is the general consensus to get one? I have a water meter which has cost me a bloody fortune, i didn't have it put in, don't know what the last owner was thinking.

Leccy meters different? i haven't researched them at all, so seeing this, i thought I'd ask the question.

Oh, and as we get our gas with bulb, they also said they'd replace that at the same time?

You must use a LOT of water if a meter costs you more than being rated
