Boring one - Tumble Dryers Vs Washer Dryers

Isnt the other problem with a washer dryer that it can only dry half the amount it can wash?
Usually the drying capacity is lower than the washing capacity, yes.You also can't wash and dry at the same time - sometimes that's useful.
Unless there is a space constraint I'd always go for separates.
Thanks for all the replies.
I think the cost effective approach is a second hand dryer and gamble it'll last the course.
Our current washer/dryer does indeed have a higher wash capacity than drying capacity which is a nuisance. Will weigh up the benefits of splashing out on a new one but I'm not sure I would get pay back.
Ordinarily we used a spare room to air damp washing in the winter but with my new Son () we no longer have that luxury. Once the weather is ok again the washing will be outside.
Now....off to ebay!!

If you're gonna get one for the long term get a gas fired one, 60% cheaper to run. The initial outlay can be about double, £350ish for the drier and someones got to connect it up. Theres 5 of us at our house, the things never off. Had it about 6 years now, not missed a beat, reckon it's payed for itself several times over.
