I guess the anti barking gadgets I was on about earlier throw out this stuff.

Thanks for the link.

OK just to move this a bit to a different nuisance problem: my neighbour has recently taken early retirement, and spends a LOT of time sitting in his garden, reading, and occasionally barbequing. All well and good, you might think, but he has a persistent, tickly cough problem. Every minute, or few minutes there's a "uuchh-hu" (not really sure how to represent it, but it's a short "smokers cough" type of sound). I don't know whether there's anything we can do about it, but it is driving my wife and I absolutely mental. We are at the stage where we are dreading another summer of it. Is there anything we can do - does this sort of thing count as a nuisance that we can involve someone like Environmental health with? Help!

Anybody tried

http://www.primrose.co.uk/advanced-dog-bark-stoppe...

or know of any better aids to stop/reduce annoying dog barking?

Lazy neighbours don't walk their dog - think its fine to let it bark constantly in the garden...even when they are in the garden ! They also think because they don't get up till 9am to go to work it's fine to let it out at 12.30am every night...knowing their neighbours (us) get up at 5am. No attempt to shut it up, so since poison darts/air rifles etc are not an option I'm looking at the above.

I know its not the dogs fault - it's the pie eating lazy bds I want to shoot.
I never understood how people manage to ignore their own dog barking. We used to have a neighbour whose dog barked constantly at us through the fence when we went in the garden (the neighbours just left it in the garden whether they were in or out) so eventually, after trying to get the neighbours to do something about it, I started throwing bacon rinds and other nice treats over the fence, and soon it realised we were nice and stopped barking at us.

Beyond us also. You buy a dog you must know it needs walked. They are happy to go around their own lawn picking its st up...in their own garden..the grass they mow....with their own mower. Beyond me. May try something like you have done.

Grab the neighbour, shove him in your boot, either drive him to the next county and let him go or kill him and throw him in a river. Either way he wont come back and everyone concerened including the neighbour is much better off.

laugh You need a detached house on a large plot with no neighbours for a mile in each direction. I suspect you'd then find the bird noise irritating though!

Seriously...if you live in and around people you have to have some tolerance to the noise that they make. You could have significantly worse things to deal with from your neighbour...

Telling somebody that they should not be annoyed by something that they find annoying is a form of intolerance in itself. Allow the chap to find the noise described annoying, I know I certainly would, but even if I didn't, I would still tolerate his annoyance.

But then you're being intolerant to my intolerance with fools who can't deal with normal noise? We could go on for ever...

...he's looking for advice about whether he can bring in the Environmental Health Department laugh I can only imagine their response...

It's unfair to call him a fool. I had assumed that the reference to the Environmental Health Department was a joke, meant to illustrate how irritating he finds the noise to be. Similar to Clarkson and the shooting.

Almost word for word what the OH said to me this morning when I was suggesting hosing next door's barking/whining/never taken out for a walk pooch.
We did go round and complain about a year ago. Brought her to tears but to no effect on the dog.
Luckily she's moving out soon; well, the house is on the market.

Mind you, putting a hole in the fence just big enough for him to see and owning a pet lion would also sort it.

Well, when it's quiet you throw food over and when it barks you don't. Be amazed at how quickly a doggy will learn to shut up (well, some!).
