How much is this cooker?
Discussion
Wolf cookers and SubZero fridges are the biggest ripoff in the world. They do nothing that a similar appliance can't do at literally one tenth the price.
Wolf have the big round red knobs so that if you're "in the know" you can spot what they are in someone else's house. I just think that the owner has more money than sense. Developers are sticking these into new builds all over Surrey at the moment, just makes me feel that whoever buys those houses has paid £50k over odds before they've even started.
I've actually got top end Wolf, SubZero and Aga appliances in my houses which the previous owners were kind enough to buy for me. They didn't get any value back for them when we bought the house they were in. They're all very nice devices, but you just don't need to spend that much money. Having said that - I do quite like the Aga. Not £25k worth of "like", however.

To balance things out as a tight Yorkshire man. I'm just finishing fitting my own kitchen.
My entire cost is £2230 so far excluding floor tiling as I haven't done it yet. That's all appliances, wall tiling, units, work tops gas hob, sink, full re wire and plastering, over boarding.
Got very lucky with the oven. Bought an as new silver neff double oven from a chap on the next street for £50. His wife wanted a new kitchen, to replace the new kitchen in the house they'd bought. Otherwise that would have been around £700
If the fancy cooker man lived in Yorkshire we'd tell him straight about his poncey stove. His beans on toast won't taste any different

I'd like to know how a 10m x 10m extension costs 200k. a new build, 5 bed detached house would cost less than that ( excluding land ) finished. must be the unobtanium worktops bumping the price up
For an extension of that size its about right for the Thames Valley, kitchen is in addition I suspect, as no doubt are the lantern and any large areas of glass. There are people here working for the large IT companies earning obscene amounts of money, the cooker price is just pocket money to them, as to why would they , its because they can.

Look up lancanche for more amusing ways to milk the too-much-moneys.
Replaced a fan & element in one for a client recently... could have bought a new decent cooker for less... and the pisstake was the fan "assembly" was basically the same ~10% of the cost part as for a neff (ebm brand) but with a bit of bracket attached
I've got a Westahl which is the more modern version of the Lacanche cookers (in style terms). It is absolutely amazing. I think mine is 10 years old and works as well as the day it was installed. It's like buying a Roller vs an S Class. The S Class might impress initially but the Roller will still be impressing in well after the S Class is dead.Replaced a fan & element in one for a client recently... could have bought a new decent cooker for less... and the pisstake was the fan "assembly" was basically the same ~10% of the cost part as for a neff (ebm brand) but with a bit of bracket attached
Just my opinion. I love cooking so it was high on my wish list when redoing the kitchen.

It's basically made out of high end steel so is tough, has amazing gas burners (very adjustable and hot when needed) and two ovens - one gas and one electric. No programmers, timers, fans or fancy electronics. There are so few moving parts that I get the impression it will out last me.
When we moved into our place, it had a 50 year old, 4 oven AGA. To replace with new one would set us back over £10k. It works and looks like a two year old cooker.
My initial thoughts were that we could stick it on ebay. However, it is a lovely old thing and works a treat and feels like the heart of the house. With a bit of luck it will still be running in 50 years.
P.s. Does the beans nicely!

Wolf is very expensive stuff, oversized and I can't believe it's worth the extra. We are currently planning a kitchen for a new build and the variation between Gaggenau, Wolf, Miele, Siemens etc appliance prices is eye watering, so difficult to know what you really get for your money. In response to a couple of posters, we have a 4 oven Aga in our current house and love it, but they're expensive to run and as with any Range cooker, as you get older the bending and lifting takes its toll, we want built in chest height cookers for our dotage.
