It will be a contractor that feels he hasn't been paid his due. Other tricks include pin hols in central heating pipes, concrete in sewers etc
Have you ever witnessed this sort of thing happening? Surely with some of the big builders being as ruthless as they can be at driving down the costs and getting their monies worth this isn't uncommon?
Its not the big builders who dont pay, they may muck you about but eventually they will pay as they normally have contracts.
Its the private individual, who gets trades in knowing full well he will screw them over, dispute payment and finally declare themselves skint.
I know an Aerial fitter who never got paid, got ar*ed about no end over payment so went back when the client was out and removed the aerial from the chimney, probably illegal, but unsurprisingly the non payer didn't do anything about it (other than look at a screen displaying a "no signal" message that evening.)

Yes

In a house I bought (heating pipes with pin holes) and on sites I have picked up after the first developer went bust, so subbies weren't paid. Concrete in sewers is surprisingly common

Not being funny but it's one thing to have a dispute with a homeowner over unpaid work, but only a proper aholehole would do a thing like that. Real shark behaviour.

I sea what you did there. The not being funny bit was a red herring. Very clever

This used to be popular prank in Uni halls of residence - trusting could would go away for a weekend, leaving room key with trusted corridor mates "just on case". Said mates then fill curtain pole etc with tinned tuna (removed from tins, before the wags jump in), then chuckle as the hapless student progressively deconstructed their room in a bid to track down the source of the stench. Cress seeds on the carpet and a light sprinkling of water was also popular.

Sounds like a bottom feeding low life to do something like that, they will be in deep water when the net closes in on them.

I have, the Sales guy bought a flat on the site he was selling and he wasn't very popular with the Trades so "as a joke" they all continually pissed in his flat before it was drylined so the concrete and blockwork stunk.

I had to knock a hole in a mates ceiling to find a smoke alarm with a dead battery , clearly thrown in as the boarding was finished in the house renovation . Mate played for Everton years ago , so we assumed it was Liverpool supporters involved in the renovation .

An officers steward I knew in the navy was always getting stick from the officers. Before he left the ship for a new draft, he nailed a fish to the underside of the wooden mess table.

Took a while till they found that.

I guess that the hiding plaices included the fireplaice, worktopes, support breams and carp-et. Should have fitted chub locks. That's it, I'm floundering.
