Gas BBQ Recommendations c.£200-300
Discussion
I've just ordered the Weber E210 from John Lewis as it comes with a free cover.
Quick question re gas - I need the 5kg Patio gas bottle (fits inside the E210), but as I don't already have a gas bottle (and paperwork) to exchange it looks like I'm going to get spanked for £65! A refill is only about £20. Any way around this?

Talking of bottle sizes, I was told never to keep the bottle underneath the BBQ,it's dangerous, that came from the Weber rep who happened to be at the garden centre doing a demo, the cupboard underneath is just for keeping your equipment in.
Then why do Weber manufacture them with the gas gauges installed in the cupboard ? Sounds odd , but everyday's a school day etc .Classy6 said:
Updates anyone?
My £30 Argos barby isn't quite cutting the mustard anymore, so I'm looking at gas bbqs. Can't justify the price of a Weber after looking at them, any other recommendations/comments on folks that have purchased recently?
Well I cant really fault the one I bought (Outback from Homebase - linked earlier) My £30 Argos barby isn't quite cutting the mustard anymore, so I'm looking at gas bbqs. Used it a good few times now so used to the way it cooks, the griddle plate is fab for onions and other veg (we chuck on a mix of peppers, courgette, onions, etc rather than sticking them on skewers).
plenty of room for us, glad I didn't get a 4 burner.
now working out the best way of doing a Chicken Shwarma kebab - whether to buy a rotisserie or just chuck it straight on.
<edited as apparently I didn't link to it earlier so here you go...>

I've had the Weber E210 for about 3 years after many years of cheaper BBQs. I shamelessly had it delivered pre-built by John Lewis for free at the time as there was an offer on so can't comment on ease of build. I have to say it has been fantastic and although expensive (relatively) it has been well worth the additional outlay. It cooks so well and evenly, ignites first time even after a winter lay-up and unlike any other BBQ I've had it continues to look new, the a frame /grills/ etc. The best bit though is the spares and support. I stupidly broke a wheel pushing it over a rough area and 'forcing it on' - Weber sent a whole new base and wheel set FOC even having told them I was happy to pay. Great product.
I have an outback spectrum hooded 2 burner. A couple of years old.
The wooden shelves look worn despite being sanded and oiled. Everything else looks and works fine though. Got it in the end of summer sale at about £90 so....bargain.
It is a lot hotter to the back of the grills though as noted above.
I’m looking for a 3 or 4 burner this year just because..

I’m a Weber fan, I currently have 5. Three of them are charcoal, one is electric and a Genesis gas.
The latter is now in its 13th year of use. Relatively pricey at the time, although it’s only cost me a set of flavour bars a few years back - I had a local metal shop knock up a new set for £30.
The grill is cast iron, stainless burners, the base 8mm aluminium, solid steel lid. Believe it has a 25yr rot guarantee. Starts first time, every time, and gets used in all weathers, and for lazy post work summer bbqs.
