House purchase next to a farm.
Discussion
I did a couple of weeks works on a mates house next door to a farm , my first question was " did you buy this place in the winter " as when I worked there the cows were back in the field , it stank so bad I could barely breathe but I'm a townie !
They did buy it in the winter after no interest in the past couple of summers . It was suspiciously cheap .

Once a year Equus and yes it's strong but lasts only a few days.
Yes, don't get me wrong - I'd rather put up with rural smells of any sort, for whatever duration, than go back to living in a big It only takes the mention of the word 'London' on these forums to remind me of how lucky I am.
Mind you, we've had the RAF playing with their toys all week, and the Coastguard decided to land one of their helicopters a couple of hundred yards from my front window today. It's not all peace and quiet!

Oh I don’t know, lots of fringe benefits of living next to a pig farmer ...
I can't believe no one has explained this:How to dispose of a corpse
I wonder what that'll do to the SEO...

Maybe you should live in the country but not next to a farm then ...
Does that qualify as being in the country if you need to have an exclusion zone around farms, though?
Sounds like you want to be in a housing estate adjoining green belt to me (“country” but without the smells, etc). If you could get an “executive house” that fitted that criteria that you could pull the trigger on, I suspect you’d be delighted
Why be such a prick? He only asked a simple question. Does that qualify as being in the country if you need to have an exclusion zone around farms, though?

FWIW, I’m from the country, and have a house in the country. That’s not to say I’d choose a place downwind of a pig farm. If you can’t see the difference, you’re a moron.

There's 20 Limousin cows in the field next to our lounge window right now, really can't see what the problem is even the dogs ignore them now. Also, there's a holding pen for sheep adjacent to our back gate. If you don't like animals don't move to the country.
I’m pretty sure the OP’s concerns aren’t about a small number of grazing cows.Burgmeister said:
Presumably if it's a fruit farm that's a long term strategy as fruit trees don't spring up overnight...
If it were to be 'returned' to livestock then would the trees need to go? If yes then probably unlikely to happen. If no then I suppose it is possible.

Fruit doesn't all grow on trees."Fruit farm" tends to mean acres of ugly polytunnels rather than traditional mistletoe-filled orchard.
I can see the concern about change of use, given the publicised shortages of migrant labour for fruit picking.
