Thats waht I thought! £300k for a 3 bed semi with no garage. All because everyone wants to live in london...
.
Absurd. Simply absurd.
Not the price, you understand, but your surreal outlook on house prices.
well, why else would you pay that amount of money for a 3 bed semi with no garage? My 3 bed semi is for sale at £110K. Garage large enough for the Aston, in an area nice enough not to get a damaged Aston. Why could this house possibly be worth almost 3x as much? Oh yes, I forgot: its London.

No it's not 3x more because it's in London, it's 3x more because it's not in Leicester

~Its on the end of a terrace, so whilst it is to all intents and purposes semi-detached, its a terraced house.

Our 3 bed semi with garage on the very outskirts of Stroud, atop a hill that overlooks a valley from the lounge and master bedroom was £180k 18 months ago. I still can't see how the OP's house can be worth that much but hey ho!

We had similar issues with a very well known agent that likes to be known for dealing in mid-upper end properties.
They took ages to market the property, with poor pics, then when we had viewings thye never passed ont he feedback. I found them hard to contact never answered the phone and when I did viewings myself the viewers said the same thing. One had to ring 5 times to get a call answered.

We decided that had not upheld theit part of the agreement and a solicitor in the family wrote them a letter to that effect. The local office was very haughty and rude with us. So we wrote a very strongly worded letter We ended up having a call from the MD of the company, while he was on holiday, apologising for the poor performance of that office and saying he hoped it wouldn't affect all the trade we did with pther offices. Local office got a real hammering and we got out of contract.

I don't think I would have gone to the trouble of fighting them, had we not had a solicitor in the family and had we not had extensive dealings with them through other offices.

His house is commutable to Lahndahn, yours isn't.

I bet with the view and everything your house is reasonably expensive for what it is in the Stroud area?

I have called mine twice to remind them that they must set the deadlock on the Yale on the front door. I have pointed out twice that my insurance demands that it is set, other wise they invalidate the insurance and I will be holding them liable should anything happen.

A house is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. If a buyer decides the OP's house is worth 300K then that is what it will sell for.

Are you lot aware that house prices vary from place to place?
It is not a new crazy phenomena that in some places you will get much more for your money than others.
Its just the sudden expression of suprise on this thread:

£300k for a fking house?????? Three. Hundred. THousand. Pounds!!!!!
That is absolutely fking ridiculous. I know where you can buy a house for less than £100k. You must be fkings stupid if you pay £300k for a £100k house.
Never heard anything so bizarre in all my life

Put that in writing and keep a copy - send recorded delivery if nec. Then they might take you seriously

I went to look at a house recently. The estate agent turned up, and obviously couldn't get in.

Instead of admitting he'd bought the wrong keys, he told us that it wasn't worth him going back as he was already late for another appointment, the house already had an offer within 15% of the asking price so he wasn't worried if we didn't put a bid in.

I'd love to have recorded that conversation and sent it to the owners of the poor house. I bet they'd be worried about 15%

This house is on one of the nicest roads in the area

Three areas we are considering:
Lymm & Altrincham (both in cheshire) similar prices, around £300k for 3 bed semi
Marlow-dawn sarf (bucks) talking £350+ for 3 bed semi

Doesnt seem bad price for london??
